Story time..
What I thought was going to be a quick weekend getaway, off grid, celebrating our 5 years together turned out to be the best weekend of my life by a long shot. I originally planned to capture our whole trip and make a killer adventure video but I think I picked up my camera twice after our special moment Saturday morning. We lived in our moment with our boys, listened to old outlaw music, talked about our future cabin layout for the 137th time, ate yummy food and was completely cut off to the world for a couple days. I dig our bond and this simple life we have created. 2/22/25.

Folks, I have been working on something I would like to announce. Niftie Folks. Niftie Folks is going to be a series of interviews from our local small business owners and entrepreneurs. These interviews will be REAL and RAW. I will be posting these on my website for you to view along with photos (taken by me) of these folks in action and ask them questions that will bring insight of the unique struggles, wins and lessons these badasses face every day. I am doing this in hopes to inspire others to take that leap of faith and START THAT F**KIN’ BUSINESS ALREADY.. as well as to show current business owners that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. I have officially booked my first badass and I couldn’t think of a better small business owner to start this off with me. Stay tuned!! This song reminds me of the man who was always there for me. My hero, my rock, my grandpa, El Chato. After coming to him for advice, after coming home with my stupid tattoos, after bringing home one sh*tty boyfriend after another, he would always tell me something along the lines of “Some day, you’ll understand, mi jita.”
He always put so much thought into how to relay the hard truth to my sensitive soul. He knew perfectly how to plant it in my mind and patiently watch me either put it into action or completely f**k up again. Either way, there was no judgment and he believed in me.
In my hard times, I do my best to remind myself to get back the strength to at least be half the man he was. It’s hard. Extremely hard. I dedicate this piece to him as I remind myself that.. there are many things I don’t know and to not be so hard on myself for not knowing how to handle it. My hero, El Chato.
