We enjoyed hosting the Morrow County Chamber of Commerce for the July Lunch and Learn this month!

Always great hearing from the local community and networking with other businesses. This month we heard from area professionals about real estate in the county, and enjoyed lunch catered by Sames & Cook.

We are so excited to announce our vendors for our Summer Market Pop-Up Shop! Make sure to mark your calendar for Friday, July 18th from 4:00p until 8:30p to come shop with these local area businesses while enjoying the sights and sounds of the Friends of The Village Annual Car & Bike Show (Registration starts at 4p, Show officially starts at 5:30p).

It's a smaller Pop-Up Shop as we will be hosting the Car & Bike Show's registration in the back portion of our space from 4:00p until 5:30p, but make sure to come out and shop local... I'd love to hear that our vendors have sold out because of the turnout!

It's also a great time to stop out and see our venue if you are curious about the space. While the layout may be slightly different because of the vendor tables, you'll get a sense of what is included and how spacious the spot is. Whether you've never been in before, or you are in the middle of planning your upcoming event with us... come visit! We can't wait to see you!

Our Summer Pop-Up Shop Market is just one week away! Stay tuned for our Vendor Highlights coming out later today!

This Pop-Up Shop will take place during the Friends of The Village Annual Downtown Car & Bike Show, so make sure to check out their event for more details and make plans to stay out and enjoy all the cool cars, delicious eats, and great live music!

*Please note that S Main Street, between High & Marion Streets, will be closed starting at 3:00p for the Car Show, so you'll have to park in public parking lots and surrounding side streets!

Even though the weather wasn't quite agreeing with us... and some of you navigated around flooded roads to get to us 😮 You still showed up and supported the local businesses!

You can count on the fact that I went home with lots of goodies myself 😅, but without the full community support, we wouldn't be able to host these Open House Pop-Ups, so we are so thankful for YOU!

To finish out celebrating our first 5 years in business, here's a peek into...
✨Our Story✨

It all started in 2019 when some friends decided to meet a need they saw in the community!

Jeff & Kate Stuttler, owners of Heritage Barn, had multiple inquiries for small gatherings that they weren't able to accommodate because of a full calendar. They approached their friends Ben & Lindsey Wells, who owned a recently vacated commercial space in downtown Mount Gilead, about partnering to open a venue for small events like bridal showers, birthday parties, graduation parties, and the likes. While there were some venues already out there, there seemed to be a demand for more event space. And so the idea of The Village Gathering Place was born!

After months of painting, staining tables, assembling chairs, website creation, a styled shoot, pre-bookings, and all the things... The Village Gathering Place opened on March 6th & 7th, 2020 with a Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting and Open House. It was quite the celebration! Unfortunately, one week later, as we all know... gatherings were unable to take place and events were postponed and/or cancelled. However, once things began to open back up, the community really showed up and came out to support the venue!

In early 2024, the Stuttlers felt called to pivot and focus on other endeavors, and so the Wellses took over full ownership of The Village Gathering Place. While it's not quite the same around here without Jeff & Kate, Ben & Lindsey continue to operate the venue with the values of providing high quality client experiences and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.

Since opening, The Village Gathering Place has provided a space for hundreds of gatherings, hosted multiple Pop-Up Shop markets, and received so much amazing feedback from guests. While we are proud of creating an elegant backdrop for events, more importantly, we are honored to provide a place where friends, family, and the community can joyfully gather for all of life's celebrations.

We are so excited to have 🎻Stringbeat🎻 perform at our 5th Anniversary Open House!

The doors open at 5:00p on Friday 3/7, so arrive in time to get a drink and say hi before a Thank You toast at 5:45p. The live music will run from 6:00p until 8:00p, setting a lively atmosphere for a time of fellowship and fun. Music genres will range from soft classical, to Bridgerton style music, to modern songs as well!

We will also have a 📸Photo Booth📸 set up, so make sure to grab your bestie and snap some pictures for our online album!
