Shavonne L. Sanders is a wife, mother of 6, and grandmother of 8. She is a businesswoman, mentor/life coach, executive, and family advocate who specializes in youth development and family/ community engagement.
Mrs. Sanders is the founder and executive director of My Daughters And Me MDAM My Sons and Me MSAM INC. This grassroots, community-based organization specializes in community growth and prosperity through community, school, and family outreach. Raised by a strong family herself, Shavonne’s belief is that it truly takes an entire community to raise a child. It is the same belief that drives her tirelessly to work with and advocate for the community she serves.
Through her non-profit organization, they are able to host monthly events, workshops, mentorships, a summer youth program, and much more. Due to generous donations and community support, all community events sponsored by MDAM MSAM INC are free of charge.
Mrs. Sanders’ love for youth and their families have kept her in education for over 27 years. With her finger on the pulse of the community, Mrs. Sanders has developed numerous empowerment programs to help youth and their families find their voice and thrive. In doing so, Shavonne has helped to bridge the gap between school, community, and family.
Shavonne’s advocacy is not just limited to her own organization. Shavonne can always be found giving a helping hand to a fellow community-based organization. Shavonne and her team also work in partnership with the City Mission of Schenectady, Schenectady City School District, Strong Owls Inc., Electric City Barn of Schenectady, and Host of other community-based organizations and programs.
Shavonne is honored to stand on the shoulders of the many powerful and amazing women who have paved the way. Her goal is to continue to advocate on behalf of the youth and their families by giving them the necessary tools that they will need to be successful on their lifelong journey. Planting seeds and making a difference in her community is key to a healthy community.
