Are you looking for a fun, hands-on way for your kids to reconnect with nature, learn about the amazing wildlife in our backyards, and discover how to help them thrive?

Join Sierra Scales Exotics for our very first Nature Craft Club where we’ll be building Winter Bug Hotels! 🏨✨

Our backyard insects and pollinators do so much for our environment, and winter can be a tough time for them. In this workshop, kids will learn all about where bugs go when it gets cold, meet some of our live insect ambassadors, look at insects up-close under a microscope, and discover easy ways to make backyard habitat improvements that help native wildlife thrive!

We'll then get creative by upcycling everyday materials into cozy "Bug Hotels" to take home and hang up in your own yard!

🗓 When: Friday, October 16th

⏰ Times: 8:00 AM - 9:30 AM OR 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM

📍 Where: Stent Schoolhouse (16319 Stent Cut Off Rd, Jamestown)

Who: Perfect for kids & families wanting to get hands-on with nature!

Cost: $20 all supplies included + Live critter interactions.

What to bring: All crafting materials are provided! However, we highly encourage you to bring clean, empty soup cans or any natural items from your yard (like pinecones, dry twigs, or bark) to make your hotel unique and your own.

🎟 Pre-Registration is REQUIRED and spots are limited for both morning slots!

Have you ever seen a nakie hermit crab? 🐚👀

Dwebble’s home was getting a little too snug, so it was time to hit the crabby real estate market aka chevk out some new shells! Watch him inspect his new property and do the ultimate quick-change to protect the "forbidden croissant." 🥐

Because hermit crabs don't grow their own shells, finding the perfect fit with a good water seal, a smooth inner spiral, and a front door that blocks out predators is serious business. Once those tiny uropod legs grip the inside of the new shell, he is locked in for the long haul.

What do you think of Dwebble’s deluxe new home? Let me know if you prefer the old classic shell or this new upgrade in the comments! 👇

Rattlesnakes and hot tubs?! Didn't have that on my 2026 bingo card but here we are! Remember, wildlife need food, water, and shelter too! And while we may not realize it, there are small things we do that may invite some unwelcome critters, such as rattlesnakes, into our own backyard! Watch the full video for more, and reach out if you need a rattlesnake relocated or some help identifying "invitations" in your own yard!
