I have never had to address things like this publicly, but I’ve also never had a situation like this occur.
———
A few weeks ago, I associate shot for another photographer- what this means is that she had to cancel last second and needed a fill in. I took $600 for payment, and after technical difficulties (she wanted photos sent over wetransfer, which I don’t pay for and communicated wasn’t working with my firewall), I sent around 2k photos from 6 hours. While dealing with WeTransfer, I also delivered all the photos over Google so she would at least have copies of them.
The wedding itself was beautiful, but because of weather/wind- every group picture was taken inside, where the room was full of people and tables. It will require extra editing, but it was unavoidable. It also meant bride didn’t want to take outdoor photos beforehand.. between her first look with groom and her dad, her veil was already unmanageable and she didn’t want to continue doing touch ups before the ceremony.
I’m actually still comfortable with the album- specifically because of how many photos I delivered to provide options. The photographer has demanded a refund because of level of editing she needs to do and delay due to not being able to use WeTransfer- to which I have declined. She then went on to threaten to message my boyfriend? Which, wonderfully enough for me- he was there and saw the struggles with this wedding… including when I had to change lenses because a child kept running over to smack my camera (YES, I did talk to parents). I’ve ignored up until this point, because photos are delivered and this doesn’t seem like something I need to engage with, but with her saying she’ll be messaging people, I want to address and then avoid.
For my brides this year, I just want to say- the work you see posted on here? That’s what you’ll get. If you want to see the album delivered in this situation, I’ll also happily show you! I’ve shot dozens of weddings now, and I’ve never had someone as upset as a photographer who cancelled on the couple to begin with. I take so many photos, both close up and far away, so I can be picky during editing! These are a few of the images (I left out groom/bride photos, because they were wonderful- I just think their original photographer needs to stop). And for more content? Go check out the photo I posted yesterday of my wedding on this past Saturday- I got to send sneaks from a beautiful day in KC last night, and they’re gorgeous. They also follow my quick timeline for turnaround 😉
The photos here are three that I did quick edits on from the wedding I filled in at- but truly! If you’re anxious? Reach out. I’ll show you the full album, that while being apparently my worst work, I’m still happy with 🫶🤍
