We sure do love this quote -- reminding us of our quest for excellence.
As we remember Martin Luther King, Jr., we think about the importance of gathering together to communicate and understand the ways we are the same and the ways we are different.
He said it this way, "“People fail to get along because they fear each other; they fear each other because they don’t know each other; they don’t know each other because they have not communicated with each other.”
Sometimes we forget that other companies like orange, too. Is there anything better than a Hermes box?

Lauren and Todd have been diligently working on the layout and final ordering details for an "almost over the top" birthday party later this month. It's this side of our luxury event design and planning filled with collaboration, experience, detail and contingency, that many of our clients never get to see until they walk in. This is the side that everyone thinks is so much fun, however, there is no room for error and being responsible in budget and counts can be challenging.

Stir: A Hospitality Summit to Inspire Sept 11 2018
We were in a wrap-up meeting for a recent event and one of the comments was about the incredible audio/video company that we used. I didn't say it, but I thought, "you have no idea what this company can do and how capable they are." --- we love working with TES Productions! This past weekend, we had a dream of creating an elegant, sophisticated ballroom in the middle of an exhibit hall. 6 semi truck loads of equipment and 76 chain motors later -- we had exactly what we imagined. Michael Frankenburger and his team including Kristin, Keith, Don, Cory, Richie, hit a home run! We can't imagine doing an event to this scale without this company by our side!

This morning, 7:55 AM - Miami Beach, Florida — the doors open and the 12-piece band is performing electrifying music as we begin to move through the line to get a seat for Michael Cerbelli's: The Hot List.
Since 2004, I’ve tried to attend The Special Event Conference and Tradeshow as often as I can — and one year, I pretty much flew in for The Hot List — yes it’s that valuable to what we do.
But this year is different. The convention was much smaller - a symptom of the pandemic. Our industry has been hit hard along with many of our industry partners including hotels/hospitality and caterers and other food service.
Somehow Todd Wadeand I have moved on day by day at Rumbledrum. We have had some very thoughtful and generous clients and we have had a very busy year. In fact, it was one of our best. Our team has grown. We have had some amazing projects.
And sometimes I almost forget about the debris. Those who have suffered and lost — closed companies, laid off people, those who had cars and trucks repossessed and struggled to make it. Those numbers are staggering.
As I took in the energy of the band this morning, I couldn’t help but realize it is the first live performance I’ve seen in over 500 days. I grew up performing and watching live music very often. I first attended the Grand Ole Opry when I was 8 weeks old and I’ve been loving live performances ever since. But today was different.
I watched their choreography and listened to the harmonies. Their excitement and enthusiasm was contagious. I was captivated. I started thinking about how much fun they were having and wondering what their life has looked like this year. The tears began to flow down my face.
Then Brett Culp appeared on the screen and began to talk about 498 — the days since our industry was last together for The Hot List. He spoke about resilience and more tears came down.
The Hot List is always one of the highlights of my year. I expected nothing less from Michael Cerbelli this year. I thought it would be an incredible way to kick off the new things now that events are happening and as things are opening up again. I expected great ideas and “acts” like none other. But this year was different.
I think back to the amazing shows and openings: Nicholas riding his bike from the back. Michael’s young daughter introducing him, the fanfare, the lights, I remember when he proposed to his wife — but this year, he entered the quiet stage and started with a “Spiel”. (His word) He spoke from the heart about our industry and the loss. He talked about recovery.
For more than two hours, he interviewed event business owners and talked about the exciting things that have happened. He brought inspirational stories. He brought encouragement. He brought healing.
Sure there were tons of great ideas. Sure there was lots of fun stuff we haven’t thought of or seen before.
But as I sat there, with tears rolling down my face. I realized that Michael is an industry leader like no other. He brings us together. He knows what to say. He knows how to love and how to take care of people.
As an audible 498 days ago, he called for the hashtag - . This year he has led strong with that phrase and meaning. His newsletter has encouraged. His virtual events have inspired.
AND now — he continues to lead strong.
As we slowly left the room, I told Todd that I felt I needed to debrief. I felt like I was just leaving an intensive therapy/counseling session. And I was leaving knowing that everything is going to be alright.
