One of the reasons I love stories is because they help us put words to things we struggle to explain.

Certain songs do the same.

Every time I hear "My heart needs a surgeon, my soul needs a friend..." I'm taken back to the loss of my husband's uncle, a neurosurgeon whose life impacted so many.

It's a reminder that even the most gifted hands can't heal every wound. Some hurts require the Great Physician.

That's one reason I believe stories—and songs—matter so much. God often uses them to remind us of His faithfulness long after the moment has passed.

What's a book or song that God has used to speak to you?

For years, going to the gym 3–4 times a week was part of my routine. But over the last 2–3 years, life shifted. Family, work, homeschooling, ministry, deadlines, and the needs of others seemed more important—and little by little, I stopped making time for myself.

As moms—whether we work outside the home, work from home, or stay home full time—we pour so much of ourselves into serving others. We love deeply, give freely, and often place the needs of our families, homes, churches, and communities before our own.

But this week, I made a choice: to begin prioritizing my health again.

God has entrusted each of us with the care of our bodies, minds, and hearts. Taking care of ourselves isn’t selfish—it’s stewardship. When we care for ourselves well, we are better equipped to love and serve those around us.

So this is your reminder today: You are important too. 💛

Make the appointment. Take the walk. Go to the gym. Rest when needed. Extend yourself the same grace and care that you so freely give to others.

Sometimes the work behind the scenes shifts with the season. ✍️📚

This week, I took a short step back from publishing work to focus on organizing and planning ahead for our upcoming homeschool year. Between schedules, curriculum, goals, and trying to create a rhythm that works well for our family, there’s been a lot of sorting, planning, and preparing happening around here lately.

One thing I’m continually learning is that planning ahead—whether for publishing, business, or homeschooling—helps create more peace and flexibility later on.

It may not be the most exciting part of the process, but it’s one of the most important.

If you enjoy real-life behind-the-scenes moments of balancing publishing, work, homeschooling, family life, and everything in between, feel free to follow along 💛

Sometimes being a “working mom” means serving in ways that don’t always fit the traditional definition of work—but still matter deeply. 💛

This past school year, I had the opportunity to serve as the Awana Truth & Training (3rd–6th grade) Director at our church. Last night, I had many of the Truth & Training leaders over for dinner as a small thank you for the time, energy, and care they poured into the kids in our community throughout the year.

I also wanted the chance to hear from them—to learn where they felt we succeeded, where we may have fallen short, and how we can better reach, guide, and encourage the kids moving forward. There were so many thoughtful ideas and meaningful discussions shared around the table.

I’m grateful for this team and excited to spend some time this summer preparing for next year!

Working from home while raising kids means life is rarely quiet, perfectly organized, or uninterrupted 😄

But it also means getting to witness everyday moments I might otherwise miss—and I’m incredibly grateful for that.

Motherhood and work don’t always balance perfectly, but both have shaped me in meaningful ways.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms balancing a little bit of everything today 💛

We wish all mothers and grandmothers a GREAT day!

After a fantastic weekend away for husband and I, while our kiddos were with grandparents, I am reinvigorated and recharged to get back to work! 😌🤗

Where do you enjoy going to relax and recharge?

We saw about ten deer this weekend! 🦌🥰

Taking a weekend away with my husband and being reminded how important it is to make time for your relationship too.

Parenting (and mentoring) has a way of stretching your heart.
Especially in those moments when you know the right decision… is also the hard one.
Holding a boundary. Following through. Letting a lesson land.
It’s not about punishment—it’s about growth.
Raising kids who understand responsibility, honesty, and perseverance doesn’t happen by accident.
It’s built in moments like these.
And yes… it’s just as hard for us as it is for them.
Anyone else walking through a ‘tough but important’ season right now?

What little visitors do you get where you live? 🐿️🐦🐰

Drop a picture or tell me what has stopped by to say, "hi" lately—I’d love to see!
