20 Years of In Our Own Voices Say It Loud! BIPOC Pride! Wow. It is a privilege to be asked by such a powerhouse and change making organization like In Our Own Voices to host a pop-up A Big Gay Market in this sacred space.

We cannot WAIT to welcome you at Washington Park in Albany THIS Saturday, June 13 from 12PM-5PM. All to benefit In Our Own Voices 💜 Over 50% of our vendors, including A Big Gay Market, will be donating a portion of our proceeds to In Our Own Voices!

After last year’s success, the SUMMER SAPPHIC MARKET is BACK! 🧡💖 We cannot wait to take this market to SARATOGA SPRINGS! Thank you to our friends at Saratoga Arts for hosting us 🫂

This market will feature 15 carefully curated sapphic vendors from creatives to practitioners to culinary artists! This event will feature live print making sapphic patches with Opal Hexen, live music & sapphic poetry open mic, and food + beverage! 🌈 After the market, enjoy the recently renovated Saratoga Arts building, and have a cute little gay-ass picnic at Congress Park.

This market will feature 15 carefully curated vendors ranging from kinky goods, erotic and sensual art, leather goods, handmade floggers, paddles, and MORE! This is an INDOOR and OUTDOOR market which will have a mask-only hour and free masks available for all attendees.

We have 65 carefully curated vendors for this event🧡 From wellness practitioners, to a barber, to a farm stand, to culinary artists, to fiber artists, print makers, and authors, and MORE - we have so many creatives ready to share their wares and hearts with YOU! 💜

📣 CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS! We are gearing up for the SECOND A Big Gay Market of the year and we need YOU!

We are looking for volunteers for day-of shifts for the July Market on Sunday, July 12th which include;
💜 Market Set Up (Shifts are from 8AM - 11AM, light refreshments provided and you will be doing light to heavier lifting)
🧡 Market Information Booth + Vendor Liaisons (Shifts are between 11AM - 4PM, mostly sedentary with light walking)
🩵 Kids Tent (Shifts are between 11AM - 4PM, these are sedentary and working with small humans to teenagers)
💜 Market Clean-Up (Shifts are from 4PM - 6PM, snacks and beverages provided, you will be doing light to heavier lifting)

As well as folks willing to help beef up our physical advertising by flyering the Capital Region two weeks before the event!

We are also looking for more 🦺Safety Team Committee Members⛑️ for our four larger markets and select pop up markets. The Safety Team Committee is seeking trained de-escalators, volunteer medics, and others willing to be deployed in the case of an emergency.

We believe in non-carceral intervention and removing the need for police presence at our markets. As tensions rise in our country, especially towards LGBTQ+ + marginalized communities which our market is centered on uplifting, we must protect each other the best we can if god forbid we are targeted.

The Safety Team Committee is a collaborative effort so those who join the committee will shape our procedures and policies regarding communal safety for our markets. Please expect a minimum commitment of a few virtual planning meetings and to be called upon for our four larger markets and select larger pop-up markets.

Hi A Big Gay Market Community! 🌈 It’s timeeeeeeeee JULY MARKET VENDOR APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN! 💜

In July, we will be gathering again in q***r & gender expansive JOY on 🌈 Sunday, July 12th from 11AM - 4PM (Rain Date: Sunday, July 19th) at Washington Park in Albany on Knox Street Mall Rd! We will be introducing our Summer Wellness Section, curated by Cheyenne of Womb2Womb Adornments, and the market will feature live music, social meet ups, a free kids area, community area, food and beverage vendors, and brilliant creatives 🌈

Food + Beverage & Creative Vendor + Community Area applications will CLOSE May 15th. We will CLOSE vendor applications early only if we meet our 80 vendor max. Community Area Applications will only close early if we reach our 20 vendor max. 🩵

🌈 Please Note: Market Vendor Applications are $45 - $105 sliding scale and are non-refundable with a suggested donation to our market beneficiary - Camp Unirondack’s Q***r Youth Advocacy Retreat! We recognize that things are and will be getting more expensive - we want you to apply even if you cannot donate! No one will be turned away or judged if you click “no” to donate. We do have a select number of slots for our lower sliding scale vendor fees of $15 - $35 if cost is a significant barrier - please apply via email to [email protected] for this slot and we will reach out AFTER the 5/15 deadline if we have slots left.
