Before you recycle those Amazon boxes… 👀📦🌸

Your local flower farmers are asking for your cardboard 😅

As we continue building out the flower field, we’re looking for cardboard boxes to help us naturally suppress weeds and prep more growing space (because apparently flower farming also means collecting an absurd amount of cardboard 😂).

If you have boxes piling up that you’re planning to recycle, we would be SO grateful to take them off your hands ❤️
What works best:
✔️ Plain cardboard
✔️ Shipping/Amazon/moving boxes
✔️ Tape removed if possible (but no worries if not 😅)
✔️ Bigger boxes are amazing, but we’ll happily take any size!

🌧️🌸 It takes a village to grow a flower field… and thankful ours show up. 🌸🌧️

This dream is being built with muddy boots, sore backs, late nights, and a whole lot of love.

Over the last two weekends and even in the rain today friends and family showed up to help us work the field, move compost, spread mulch, prep beds, plant, and keep this little flower farm dream moving forward.

There have been moments where this all feels huge… and honestly overwhelming. But every time someone grabs a shovel, brings encouragement, shows up in work clothes, or says “what do you need?” it reminds us why we started this.

Dark Side of the Bloom isn’t just ours. It’s becoming something built by community, family, and people who believe in growing beautiful things together.

To everyone who has helped, checked in, shared our posts, hauled dirt, worked in the mud, or believed in us from day one thank you. We see you, and we couldn’t do this without you. 🖤💐

The flowers are coming… and when they bloom, they’ll bloom because so many hands helped plant this dream.

Some of these were just seeds in our hands not long ago.

Now they’re reaching toward the light, one slow day at a time.
There’s something grounding about caring for living things through every stage… watering, waiting, trusting, showing up anyway.
Faith looks a lot like that too.

Before our field ever had a name, there was our granddaddy,
Robert George Kellman.

He planted food. Herbs.
Pine trees. Flowers.
Apple and pear trees that would bear fruit long after he planted them. Grapes heavy on the vine.
Honey bees humming through the summer.

A greenhouse full of plants and life.
And alongside my nana, he grew something even greater..
a family.

Children. Grandchildren.
Roots that would stretch farther than he could see.

He loved growing things..not for display, but for what they required: patience, care, and time.

He was patient like that in everything. Quiet at times. Observant. Smile made light shine from his eyes.

The kind of man who didn’t need to speak loudly to be heard.
When he gave you his attention, you felt like you were the most important thing in the world.
Fully seen. Fully heard.

We miss him deeply.
There are days we wish he were here in the flesh to guide us
to walk the land with us,
to remind us what matters.

But we celebrate his life more than we mourn his absence.
We are grateful beyond words that we got to be shaped by him.
We know how proud he would be.
And in many ways, we feel him guiding us still.

Every slow decision we make traces back to him. Every seed planted carefully. Every choice to grow with intention instead of convenience.
This was his land in this photo.
It carries more than memory.
It carries legacy.
And we grow the way he taught us
with our hands, our hearts, and humility.

The name Darkside of the Bloom honors our father.

Our dad loves Pink Floyd especially the song “Comfortably Numb” And the lyrics “I have become comfortably numb”

Not just the music, but the honesty behind it. The era. The depth. The truth.

When I asked him what comfortably numb means to him he said “do not put up with anyone’s BS, do not worry about things you can’t control and don’t let life rattle you”

Our Dad is;
Calm.
Steady.
So goofy.

The idea that every person carries a dark side is not something to fear,
but something to understand.

In the album The Wall, pain builds brick by brick. The ways life hardens us. The distance we build just to survive. But nothing grows without breaking.

Seeds split open.
Roots push through resistance.
Light only enters once something gives way.

This farm lives in that space
between what was broken
and what still chose to bloom.

Darkside of the Bloom is about the moment the wall breaks.
When faith steps in.
When the changes that bind your soul begin to loosen their grip.
When broken ground becomes holy ground.

This name carries what our father raised us to be honest, resilient, unafraid of depth.
Calm in the chaos.
Blooming anyway.

Thank you, Dad
for teaching us strength without hardness,
faith without fear,
and how to stay steady in the storm.

We love you to the dark side of the moon and back.

Planning time looks a little extra sweet this morning 🌱

We’re sketching out rows, ordering seeds, and giving thanks for the people God places along the way.

About a month ago, by pure divine alignment, we met Emily Moerch of Freedom Flower!! Instantly knew this connection was meant to bloom. She brings the wisdom, experience, and heart we’ve been praying for, and has quickly become our plotting-and-planning bestie 🖤

What started as coffee yesterday turned into wandering a greenhouse, dreaming big, and letting ideas take root at Stockslagers Greenhouse & Garden Center. We are so grateful for the incredible owners and employees who welcomed us, shared their knowledge so generously, and reminded us just how powerful community support can be in the early stages of growth.

This connection and community are blooming quietly in the shadows. And we trust they’re all part of God’s promise for what’s coming next.

We don’t have blooms yet, but every seed, every conversation, and every kind soul is a reminder that tomorrow is already being prepared 🌸🌈🖤

Happy New Year from Darkside of the Bloom 🌈

Last year, my brother and I were given a vision to create something bigger than ourselves. 2025 was filled with long days, hard work, and plenty of blood, sweat, and tears that brought us to this moment.
Here are a few photos of us literally doing the most, putting in the quiet work that often goes unseen. Guided by faith, patience, and trust in something bigger than ourselves, we are so grateful for the support that continues to carry us forward into what’s next.
