Dear Friends and Supporters
It is with a sense of pride, joy, and a little bit of bittersweet sentiment that I announce to you that I am selling Bon Temp Events to accept an Executive Chef appointment with Restaurant Beatrice in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas.
After 20 years opening multiple concepts and working all over the country, I didn’t expect a consulting position to change what I have known and experienced about the industry. Since I was a boy, I knew that I wanted to be a chef. The industry is a place I am so proud to have contributed to professionally, but we all know that it can stand to change. And I believe that I can be a part of meaningful change, little by little, at .
This is a concept that will allow me to make a more indelible mark in what it means to be a Black chef working today, what it means to cook food that goes back generations and generations of my own family and culture, and what it means to be doing what we know deep down is right, just, or equitable. Restaurant Beatrice will be a place that allows me to make decisions about my legacy and our responsibilities to each other and to the future. I can stand by these values as much as I stand by my food. And I can do it in special part of town that I will gladly call home.
