Here is a reminder that it is okay to slow down. It is okay to take the time you need to prioritize yourself & your mental health. It’s so easy as photographers & business owners to compare our journey to others’. Sometimes we can get in our heads & think if we don’t post as much as someone else we will lose business. Or if we take a break from social media to put ourselves first, that means we will fall behind. Well I’ll be the first to say that if you’re not taking care of yourself first to be able to give your clients 100%, none of this is even worth it. This year has been hard for me. The month of May my mental health was so bad I could barely get myself to do anything. I didn’t take on any new shoots which also continued into June. I knew I wouldn’t be able to keep up with the workload I had on my plate on my own so I asked for help. I gave myself the time I needed so that I could heal, and that’s a journey that honestly never ends. But if I had let my ego get in the way and tried to keep pushing through when I knew I just needed to take space and time off, this season would have lasted way more than a a month and a half. Moral of the story - yes, we are business owners, but before that we are HUMANS. With our own stories and our own struggles. Never feel bad for putting your mental health first. You can’t give your clients 100% if you’re running on empty. Fill up your cup first, so you may then pour into others. Love you all🤍
