You have to look at an idea that has no customers, no data, and occasionally no logical explanation and think, ā€œYes.. yes, this could be something.ā€ Then you make a spreadsheet and call it a strategy. cue evil villain laugh šŸ˜‚

1 year ago, I was gainfully employed, but my spirit was screaming that it was time for a change.

I have never been so scared and so sure of myself at the same time. While the heart palpitations were steady, the certainty was too. šŸ˜‚

And whatā€™s kind of wild is that just 2 years ago, my mom brought me to my first line dancing lesson.

I had absolutely no idea that line dancing, and more importantly, the community that came with it, would unknowingly help make me strong enough to take this leap.

That community gave me people. It gave me confidence. It gave me opportunities to bring people together. Eventually, line dancing became the first official ā€œevent seriesā€ for my business.

But the tipping point, was one more ā€œI believe in youā€ from my husband to set me out to get my LLC. And here we are.

After expenses, I may not have hit the target I would have liked. But letā€™s just say there are enough thousands that have been made to support my family and make myself cry writing this.

And thatā€™s even with all the personal challenges this year has brought.

So, what Iā€™m trying to say is: whatever the dream is, reach for it.

And if youā€™re thinking, ā€œOkay, but how the hell do I even start?ā€ I have to give a huge shoutout to the North Central Small Business Development Center. If it werenā€™t for them helping me with those initial steps, the big, scary ā€œstart your own businessā€ monster may have stayed just that: BIG and SCARY. Instead, it became a scary but manageable monster. šŸ˜‚

Thank you to everyone who has believed in me, hired me, referred me, encouraged me, partnered with me, danced with me, or simply followed along for the ride.

Happy 1 year, Erie & Ivy Events. šŸ¤ I love you šŸ˜

What began late last year as support for Fair Deliā€™s catering sales grew into helping Zach and his team navigate some of the details behind their biggest year yet at the New York State Fair.

My role was behind the scenes, taking things off their plate so they could stay focused on the work happening on site.

Thatā€™s the kind of work Erie & Ivy Events loves most. Supporting good people so they can do what they do best.

Hi, with so many new followers, I wanted to reintroduce myself, because a lot has changed since I started my business.
So, hello! Iā€™m Julianna, founder of Erie & Ivy Events. Itā€™s a pleasure to meet you!

Iā€™ve known I was meant to serve others since I was a child in my familyā€™s kitchen. With more than 20 years in hospitality, including large-scale operations with The Walt Disney Company, The Ritz-Carlton, and eBay, I started feeling like the industry was losing sight of what events are actually about.

Somewhere along the way, events started feeling like they had to fit one perfect picture: beautiful details, polished photos, and a carefully curated Instagram. And while I love a gorgeous event, thatā€™s not the whole story.

You may have noticed my social media has a lot of variety, or that my website is pretty simple compared to other planners. Thereā€™s a reason for that. I do a variety of work: managing a weekly line dancing event, corporate projects, vendor sales and partnerships, and helping clients bring their events together when things get complicated.

People are not one dimensional, and neither is my business. Itā€™s time for hospitality to be reimagined.

To me, hospitality means more than making an event look good. It means paying attention, anticipating needs, solving problems, connecting the right people, and making sure everyone feels supported along the way. Iā€™m doing the work I love in a way that feels genuine, useful, and rooted in real hospitality.

We seek out clients who are kind and collaborative across New York State and beyond. Truly, Iā€™m glad youā€™re here and appreciate you following along. ā¤ļø
