This was me a few years ago. I was on the brink of transitioning from DJing as a hobby to creating a business. I was excited but more scared than anything. Thank goodness for my support team who pushed me through that. So glad I made the choice. Been loving the journey thus far. I’ve been in the lab working on even bigger things to come. Stay tuned. This journey ain’t over. It’s just beginning…..

Today marks the anniversary of the passing of renowned rapper, singer, and actor Dwight Arrington Myers, also known as Heavy D (May 24, 1967 – November 8, 2011). Myers was the founder and former leader of Heavy D & the Boyz. His impressive discography includes four solo albums, and he played a pivotal role in launching the careers of Soul for Real and Monifah. Myers' life was unfortunately cut short at the age of 44, when he collapsed outside his home in Beverly Hills.

Hip hop classic royalty!!

🎤 ON THIS DAY IN HIP-HOP HISTORY 🎤

45 years ago today - September 29, 1980 - Kurtis Blow released his self-titled debut album and changed music forever!

"Kurtis Blow" became the first rap album released by a major label (Mercury Records), proving that hip-hop wasn't just a passing fad but a cultural force that was here to stay.

The album featured the legendary hit "The Breaks" - the first rap single to go gold AND the first to be certified gold by the RIAA. When Kurtis rapped "These are the breaks!" he wasn't just making a party anthem, he was breaking down barriers for every hip-hop artist who came after him.

From the Bronx to the world 🌍

Kurtis Blow paved the way for generations of MCs and showed the music industry that rap had serious commercial potential. Respect to a true pioneer! 🙌

In loving memory of Grandmaster Flash and The Furious 5 member Keith Cowboy. Keith died of a drug overdose at the age of 29! This is the guy who actually coined the term "Hip Hop". R.I.P. 🙏🏽🕊️
