With graduations surrounding us this month I wanted to share something I read this week.
Congratulations to the graduates and their proud families.

Empty Nest.

Who came up with this term?

It doesn’t make sense.

We have two doves making a family on our porch.

The mom sits on the eggs each day.

The dad comes and sits all night.

Those eggs are going to hatch soon.

Then those babies will be in the nest.

Mom and Dad will take turns watching and feeding.

When the babies are bigger, they’ll fly away.

And do you know what the parents will do?

THEY WILL NOT SIT IN THE EMPTY NEST.

They will not define themselves by the nest.

The mom will not chase the babies down to see what they’re doing.

They will simply fly away too.

It’s not an empty nest.

It’s a huge, awesome, full world.

Let’s fly.
