Am I smart? Not really...

Can I make you dance...absolutely !

DJs - Heres how you save for a marketing budget:

Dedicate 10% of your income from every gig towards marketing efforts. After a span of 3 to 6 months, employ the gathered money to boost your visibility.

Keeping things simple often yields better results than overcomplicating them.

Major turning point in my career..

I came down on a price to match a competitor and still lost the job. So if someone says "its because of price.."

No - it's because of principle. If you don't see eye to eye with the prospect of whats the important outcome and clearly deliver the way to get that result they will ALWAYS look to spend less.

DJs - you'd learn a lot faster by doing something.

DJs:
Declining certain things can often benefit you more than repeatedly agreeing to everything. True opportunity arises only with definite results and outcomes. Don't agree just because you think it's a chance—agree because you know how to turn it into one.

People I want to surround myself with:
- Curious
- Creative
- Diligent
- Confident without cockiness

People I want to avoid:
- Boastful
- Egotistical
- Obstructive

If you don't shamelessly promote your work - you're not going to get booked.

Sometimes, you have to put out stuff whether you're ready or not and embrace the impact of negative comments and feed back.

"Worse djs" are getting more jobs than you because they understand one thing:

It's not about being better - it's about being seen.

"Better DJs" would rather focus on the technical stuff rather than speed run to get their jobs. They like the technical stuff because it makes them feel unique, important or better than their competitor..

Except the competitor is working, being seen and you're not getting nearly the recognition you feel like you deserve.

DJs - If someone comes to you and asks for your help, who's the pro? You or them?

If you go to someone asking for help, are you still the pro?

Now replace help with "job/gig."

Get the point?

Can't stand micro-managing club owners?

Don't work for them. If you have the skills to throw your own events, demand your own performance than you have leverage. If you are just working because someone hired you - they have the leverage.

DJs – refining your ability to concentrate requires consistent effort. Just like you practice your music sets, you're striving for the best possible result.

Adopt this mindset for your DJ business as well. Intently focus on the end goal and then work backwards to determine the steps needed to reach it.

Don't mistake passion for purpose.

Passion is vague and purpose is specific. Being passionate about something means you're willing to sacrifice other things because it makes you happy

Purpose is sacrificing other things to make everyone, including yourself, happy.
