🇺🇸 Memorial Day 🇺🇸
“This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
— John 15:12–13 (KJV)
On Memorial Day, my thoughts always go beyond cookouts, long weekends, and the unofficial start of summer.
This day asks us to pause.
To remember.
To honor the men and women who willingly laid down their lives so others could live in freedom.
Jesus spoke of the greatest love a person can show: to lay down his life for his friends. While no earthly sacrifice compares to what Christ did for us on the cross, Memorial Day reminds us of a reflection of that kind of love—people willing to step into danger, willing to give everything, so others could be protected.
Many never made it home.
Some were barely older than kids.
They left behind parents, spouses, children, and friends… and gave their tomorrows for people they may never have met.
That kind of sacrifice deserves more than a passing thought.
It deserves remembrance.
It deserves gratitude.
And for many families, today carries both pride and pain. A folded flag. A name etched in stone. A memory that never really leaves.
Today we honor those heroes.
We thank God for their courage.
We pray for the families who still carry that loss.
And we remember that freedom has never been free.
May we never forget. 🇺🇸
