Please join us in congratulating Encore family, longtime friends, and Encore Alumni — Tracye Whitfield.

Earlier this week, Tracye Whitfield was officially sworn in as President of the Springfield City Council, marking a historic milestone as the first Black woman to lead Springfield’s municipal legislature.

President Whitfield was unanimously elected during the City Council’s organizational meeting, a powerful reflection of the confidence, respect, and trust she has earned through years of dedicated public service.

In November 2025, she secured her fifth term as an At-Large City Councilor, finishing the municipal election with 5,433 votes — further affirming her deep connection to and support from the Springfield community.

President Whitfield’s leadership represents progress, perseverance, and principled service. Her continued commitment to Springfield helps move our city forward with purpose, equity, and vision.

Please join us in congratulating Encore family, longtime friends, and Encore Alumni — Justin Hurst & Denise Hurst. ❤️

This week marked a powerful and historic moment for the City of Springfield as Justin and Denise were officially sworn into their respective leadership roles — continuing a shared legacy of service, advocacy, and community impact.

Justin Hurst was sworn in as a Springfield City Councilor-At-Large, reclaiming his seat following a successful re-election and now serving as a Co-Chair of the City Council’s Special Committee on Residential Development, helping shape the future of housing and growth in our city.

Denise Hurst was sworn in as a member of the Springfield School Committee, as part of the first all-minority elected School Committee in Springfield’s history — a milestone moment for representation and progress. In addition, Denise currently serves as the 2026 President of the Massachusetts Association of School Committees (MASC), representing school committee members across the Commonwealth.

Justin and Denise exemplify leadership rooted in integrity, equity, and deep commitment to community. Their continued dedication to Springfield — locally and statewide — is something to be celebrated and recognized.
