As always an honor.

Today, Dec. 7th, is known as "National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day". On this, the 77th anniversary of Japan's attack on America, which resulted in 2,335 American lives lost and another 1,143 wounded; where the U.S. lost 18 ships, including five battleships, Operation Lone Star honors and remembers the Fallen, the Veterans, and the survivors of the day which President Franklin D. Roosevelt described as a "date which will live in infamy". A wreath was placed at the Houston Heights WWII Memorial Plaza in honor and remembrance of that fateful day. Never forget!

Operation Lone Star - Texans Supporting Our Troops

Memorial Day is a day for remembering all of those who fought and died for our freedom. Today started with a service at Houston National Cemetery, complete with bagpipes playing Amazing Grace, canons being shot, Civil War rifle and musket shots, a Coast Guard flyover, and TAPS being played. Operation Lone Star participated in the parade of colors and presented a wreath at the ceremony. From there, we went to the Fallen Warriors Memorial, where a gathering of families remembered friends and loved ones who were lost in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation New Dawn. The National Memorial Ladies hosted the reading of the Texas Fallen servicemembers and the ceremony ended with the raising of the American and Texas flags to full staff, as well as the military service flags (handled by our own OLS President, Jim Conley), while active duty servicemembers looked on. Completing the day, was a private memorial honor to SP4 John Dobroski, a close personal friend of our President and VP. Even if you were unable to attend a Memorial Service today, we hope that you took a moment to remember those who fought for our freedom and paid the ultimate sacrifice. Never forget........
