wanted to thank you for all the beautiful plants i bought on Sunday... always great plants when i come out...
Love visiting and finding 2 new roses.
Question...when should you start using your fertilizer on them?
Yesterday we had another fabulous flower class at Rosarium Garden Center. This time Carol took us on a delightful tour through the gardens sharing the history and great tips for caring for roses and clematis along with fun little "did you know" facts. It was so inspiring and then we gathered under the big maple tree with views of the gardens as we designed our own garden flower centerpieces. I shared elements of design, tips for extending stem lengths a easy way to dethorn roses and general designing guidelines. Everyone created masterpieces and we took them to the garden for a photo shoot of them with their arrangement. It was a class filled with the nicest women and the weather was perfect. If you'd like to participate in upcoming classes at the Rosarium we have a dried garden rose wreath class and a autumn floral arrangement class coming in September. In August join me to tour local flower farms and a Tall Grass Farms dahlia class on August 20th in her dahlia fields learning about dahlias, picking your flowers and then we will design an arrangement together. Lots of hands on flower fun coming your way. Let me know if you need more information.
Question...About a month ago I bought Five own root rose plants. I followed your directions for planting. I have not seen any signs of new growth, they are just sitting there. However, some of the leaves have yellowed. Is this normal, never planted these before? What do I need to do to encourage new growth?
Garden centerpiece class is this coming Sunday at the Rosarium Garden Center. I believe there are only a couple of open spots left in case you wanted to join us you can sign up on the Rosariums website. I put together the buckets of flowers today from four of our local flower farmers that we will be using. Talk about color! There are snapdragons, delphinium, yarrow, orlaya, veronica, bells of Ireland and more! Plus there will be garden roses and garden spray roses too. It will truly be a centerpiece from the garden. Come join the flower fun, be inspired with a walk through the rose garden with Carol, learn some tips for cutting and caring for garden roses and have fun creating your own unique masterpiece to take home. All tools, containers, and flowers provided.
At todays class I shared a variety of armatures you can create to give flowers support and help you achieve the shape you desire. This is one made with aluminum wire swirls all tied together to create a crescent shape. It makes it easy to fill in with flowers and gives stems support to stay in place in the downward curve. I think everyone was pleased with the wisteria vine armatures they made and I hope they find it helpful to use in future arrangements too.
We have a variety of classes coming up garden rose centerpiece next Sunday at the Rosarium Garden Center, flower farm tours in August to six farms in the west plains. Then followed by dahlia field tour and cutting your own dahlias for the centerpiece class at Tall Grass Farms. September we are back to the Rosarium for dried garden rose wreath class with wine and cheese, and an autumn centerpiece with Daisies in May. I would love to have you join us. Visit my website for details.
Was a full day today with a great morning class at the Rosarium Garden Center sharing tips for hand tied bouquets. Then I headed over to Kalispel Golf to set up for what is sure to be a delightful wine dinner fund raiser. It’s always fun working along side their energetic joyous staff. Good people there for sure! Here’s a little snippet of the florals I did.
I have a dried garden rose wreath class at the Rosarium Garden Center in September so I am starting the process of picking and drying so we have lots of roses to play with. Space is limited to 15 so if you’d like to join me visit my website click on classes to learn more.

How do I recharge after a full weekend of weddings? With a little time to just play with flowers. My mind is drifting to my upcoming classes July 10th and 17th at the Rosarium Garden Center. The first one will focus more on creating a hand tied bouquet and armatures you can use to help make it easier. We will use local flowers from Daisies In Mays Flower Farm. The second class will focus on garden roses with a guided tour through the rose gardens by Carol and even a coupon for shopping in the garden-center! We will focus on a centerpiece that uses roses and other flowers found in ones garden. Two fun classes and I promise it’s for all who love flowers no designing experience necessary. That’s why many of you are coming to learn, right? I’ll guide you thorough it and I’m sure you’ll have fun too. To register visit my website click on classes and go from there.

Swoooon, who else is dreaming of summer? Me!!! I've been meeting with a variety of flower grower friends this past week and classes are shaping up for 2022. Look at this upclose rose photo by Amber Glanville Photography of roses from Spokane's Rosarium. Stunning isn't it? Now, how would you like to enjoy these english garden roses year round in your home? Yes, we are going to hosting an everlasting garden rose wreath class at the Rosarium in September. Oh my, I'm just a little excited about this one!! All summer long we will be drying roses, peonies and other garden gems just for this class. Space will be limited and once they announce it, if you're interested I would sign up early. It is sure to sell out fast.
Second photo of a garden rose arrangement again taken by the talented Amber. Carol and I will be hosting a garden rose centerpiece class in July. You will enjoy a tour of the rose gardens before having time in their lovely yard designing your own garden rose centerpiece to take home. Plus you will receive a special coupon to use at the garden shop. How awesome is that! I think everyone will be so inspired they will all want to buy a rose or two for their own garden. Again, it will be a popular class and once they announce it on their site I will let you know that registration is open. Super excited to be working with the wonderful folks at the Rosarium. Oh, you know right now is the best time to pre-order your roses for pick up in the spring. Head over to Rosarium Garden Center and see all the beautiful bushes you can add to your garden.
There is still time to sign up for my fresh flower wearables class being held at Rosarium Garden Center this coming Sunday at noon. You can register under events on their website. We’re going to have fun playing with flowers, I’d love to see you there.
This weekends weddings contained 44 boutonnieres and a dozen corsages. I find it most efficient to gather all my supplies, glues, wire, flowers etc. Then prep all my floral materials and organize into little groups and assemble them several at a time in an assembly line style.
I’m sharing a wearables class this month at the Rosarium Garden Center we will make rings, earrings, chokers and more. I invite you to join me to learn how to make beautiful fresh floral jewelry you will love to wear. Registration is on their website under the events page. Sunday September 26th at noon. Hope to see you there.
Had to stop by Rosarium Garden Center while visiting Spokane. They have a beautiful nursery shadowed by a gorgeous display garden full of vintage garden pieces (and a few repros) you can purchase. Dreamy! And, a must visit if you’re in the area. ❤️
