Sneak peek! I'm so excited to finally be working on an Anubis mask! I've been wanting to revisit this one since last year when I first started working on it. It never really turned out quite right back then. I think I'm going to be Anubis for Halloween🎃

Watch me form a flat piece of leather into a mask! Process: The leather is soaked in water, then stretched on the back with a burnishing tool in the places I want to shape. The piece is placed in the oven for about two minutes, then removed to be shaped. Back into the oven for two minutes. Back out for shaping. The process repeats until the mask holds its shape, and then I leave it out to dry before painting!

Total paint time: about 6 hours (the video is just the first few hours). I started this mask for a customer, and I love how it turned out! This is my first progress video, and it didn't turn out quite as good as I'd hoped, but now I know some changes I can make to future videos. I'm going to start releasing more of these; it's really fun to see the progress!

I wanted to share something I made in the past for the renaissance faire. The base of the headdress is buckram (with wire painstakingly sewn around the edges) and wool, and from there I attached foam into which the flowers and leaves are glued. I hand-rolled the wool dreadlocks and the antlers are 3D printed from ShadowFall Workshop. The skull is a real bobcat skull.
