I’m not a trend chaser. I actually try pretty hard not to be. But occasionally something goes viral and I look at it and think — okay, I genuinely love that. This vase was one of those moments.
What I didn’t expect was to come home with two — and if you’ve seen the size of these in person, you know that’s commitment. They took up the entire shopping cart.
Here’s something I’ve learned about pieces made with natural materials and reactive glazes: no two are exactly alike. Same mold, same SKU, completely different feel. So I lived with both of them for a few days. Morning light. Evening light. With stems, without. I thought I’d made my decision, then woke up the next morning and changed my mind.
The one I kept has a speckled finish with warm rust and brown tones that bleed through the glaze at the rim and run down the grooves. In certain light it almost looks iridescent. Same shape as the other, but it feels older somehow. More like something you’d find at an antique market than a big box store. That’s the quality I was after.
It also fits something I’ve been working toward — coming back to our home with fresh intention after it’s been on the back burner for a while. I’m not starting over, just editing. Going bigger in scale, quieter in feel. A place that actually restores you.
More on that soon. 🤍
