Today can hold many different emotions.

For some, Mother’s Day is full of celebration and gratitude.
For others, it carries grief, longing, complicated relationships, or unanswered prayers.

To the women missing their mothers…
the women who have lost children…
the women waiting and hoping to become mothers…
the women who mother others quietly every day…
and the women carrying both joy and sorrow at the same time—

You are seen today, too.

Wishing peace and gentleness to every heart this Mother’s Day. 🤍

Busy weekend at Gather Well.

Centerpieces for a Widow/Widowers Luncheon.
A fresh set for tomorrow night’s VBS Rally.
The flower stand headed to a local school for a teacher appreciation bloom bar.
And a couple of planters in the works for an upcoming Senior Sunday lunch.

Different gatherings. Different needs.
Same heart behind all of it.

A mix of quiet moments, busy hands, and meaningful work.

There wasn’t a birthday party for our six year old grandson this year.

We chose something different.

He’s always been drawn to hands-on, sensory kinds of things.

So we built the celebration around that.

And it turns out…that was more than enough.

A reminder I don’t want to forget - celebrations don’t have to be elaborate to be meaningful.

(Even the name tags were part of the fun - every vowel turned into “oo.)

It doesn’t have to be elaborate to feel meaningful.

This table came together with simple layers—greens, soft whites, a mix of pieces we’ve had and a few newer ones that just felt right this season.

The arrangements blend real and faux for both ease and longevity.

Nothing overdone.
Just thoughtful.

Because the goal was never perfection…

it was creating a space that feels welcoming when people gather around it.

The kind of table that quietly says—
you’re invited, and we’re glad you’re here.

Some of our best gatherings happen before noon on a Saturday.

No occasion. No guests. Just us — and a kitchen that smells like something good is coming.

We have a Saturday morning breakfast rotation we’ve kept for years:

French toast.
Biscuits and gravy.
Pancakes or waffles.
And this one — egg scrambles and hash browns.

It sounds simple. It is simple.

But simple and intentional together?
That’s where the good stuff lives.

And that’s what gathering well can look like on a Saturday morning.

Sometimes the simplest rhythms become the gatherings that shape our stories.

And the shaker bottle we use for cinnamon sugar?
It was my grandmother’s. We’ve been using it for over 25 years. 🤍

I’m not a trend chaser. I actually try pretty hard not to be. But occasionally something goes viral and I look at it and think — okay, I genuinely love that. This vase was one of those moments.

What I didn’t expect was to come home with two — and if you’ve seen the size of these in person, you know that’s commitment. They took up the entire shopping cart.

Here’s something I’ve learned about pieces made with natural materials and reactive glazes: no two are exactly alike. Same mold, same SKU, completely different feel. So I lived with both of them for a few days. Morning light. Evening light. With stems, without. I thought I’d made my decision, then woke up the next morning and changed my mind.

The one I kept has a speckled finish with warm rust and brown tones that bleed through the glaze at the rim and run down the grooves. In certain light it almost looks iridescent. Same shape as the other, but it feels older somehow. More like something you’d find at an antique market than a big box store. That’s the quality I was after.

It also fits something I’ve been working toward — coming back to our home with fresh intention after it’s been on the back burner for a while. I’m not starting over, just editing. Going bigger in scale, quieter in feel. A place that actually restores you.

More on that soon. 🤍

There’s something about gathering that shapes us in ways we don’t always notice in the moment.

The conversations.
The laughter.
The moments in between.

Long after the table is cleared, those are the things that stay with us.

So here, I share ideas for gathering—whether that’s in your home, around a table, or in the special moments you’re creating for the people you love.

I’m really glad you’re here. 🤍

One rhythm that has strengthened our marriage: a monthly date night.

My husband and I aim to go on at least one date each month. I plan the even months, and he plans the odd. We joke that it works out that way because I’m “even keel” and he’s “a little odd.”

This month we tried something new: mini golf, burgers, and beignets.

We played three rounds. The third was the tie breaker.

He won…this time.

Any date night ideas we should try next?
