Mrs. K's Restaurant
We are proud to announce the newest member of our management team, as we welcome our new Executive Chef, Joshua Laban Perkins. We look forward to his exciting new flair to Mrs. K's.
JOSHUA LABAN PERKINS, Executive Chef
Born in the South, Joshua Laban Perkins developed his love for food as a child dining out almost nightly with his parents. He took his first kitchen job at the age of fifteen and continued to work his way through some of the top restaurants in the region. After finishing university, Perkins moved to the Piedmont region of Italy where he received his Master of Culinary Arts. He continued to work in several Michelin starred kitchens following his studies in Northern Italy. In 2000, he returned to the United States for the opportunity to work beside Eric Ripert and restauranteur Maguey Le Coze by accepting the Executive Chef position at Le Bernardin’s “little sister” restaurant, Brasserie le Coze. Perkins quickly earned acclaim for sourcing the best local ingredients while combining his training as a poissioner, European style and technique with his southern roots. He has since gained lauded praise by many national publications including “Top 50 Restaurants” from the Gourmet Magazine, and “Top 4 Chefs to Watch Out For” Esquire Magazine. As the Executive Chef of Mrs.K’s Toll House, Perkins applies his sharp contrasts in flavor and keen eye for details by creating contemporary renditions of Mid-Atlantic cuisine with passionately sourced regional ingredients. He is active in preservation of locally sourced products and culture, championing regional fisherman and farmers, and a large supporter of the Southern Foodways Alliance.
