🍂 **SMOKY MOUNTAINS FALL GUIDE** 🍁
Just returned from the most-visited national park in America, and these fall colors did NOT disappoint! Here's what we learned exploring the Smokies and Gatlinburg:
**🚗 GETTING THERE**
Flew into Nashville using points with Southwest (4hrs to Gatlinburg) and caught stunning fall colors at Cordell Hull & Fall Creek Falls State Park along the way. Pro tip: Take the Foothills Parkway West section from Wears Valley to Look Rock Overlook for breathtaking views!
**🍁 TIMING & ELEVATION TIPS**
Late season visitors: stick to lower elevations where colors peak later. Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is an absolute MUST—winding roads under golden canopies with falling leaves everywhere. About an hour from Gatlinburg (traffic can extend this).
**🥾 HIKES **
• Grotto Falls - walk BEHIND the waterfall! Toddler-friendly with a carrier
• Cataract Falls (near Sugarlands) - mostly stroller-accessible, ends at a small cascade
• Middle Prong Trail - stunning river views & multiple waterfalls (30 min in)
• Porters Creek Trail - ranger-recommended, less crowded, gorgeous!
**🎢 ANAKEESTA**
Take the "chondola" up the mountain for aerial foliage views! Restaurant, treetop walk, and kids' play area at the summit. Book tickets a day ahead for discounts (sometimes through your hotel).
**🐻 WILDLIFE ALERT**
We spotted THREE black bears—one from our hotel balcony, two on the trails. Stay aware and keep your distance!
**💰 BUDGET NOTE**
Gatlinburg can be pricey for food—plan accordingly!
