Team Tuesday!
May is for Mike! This month, we're celebrating our Production Manager, Mike Gilson. Mike’s helpful nature and team-first mindset reflect the culture here at The Workshop. His strong organizational skills and focus on pre-planning make him a natural fit for the demands of his role.
And when he's not creating detailed lists and spreadsheets, Mike is known for mixing up a mean cocktail. Cheers to you, Mike!
When did you get into the industry?
I started with The Workshop in the Summer of 2023 in the beer garden at West Seattle Summer Fest then worked as a production lead at the Bite of Seattle. Previous to events, I worked in Tech as a Software Test Lead and Project/Program Manager. I’ve also worn various hats in the Seattle Theater community; actor, stage manager, and bar manager to name a few.
What do you love about TW?
The team is amazing and represents an incredible breadth and depth of skills, with expertise gained from years of event production. I greatly appreciate working for a company that focuses on cultivating relationships with our customers. I love the team's organizational approach, and how we combine our backgrounds from other industries to make The Workshop a unique and stellar production company.
What event are you most proud of?
Bellevue New Year's Eve Night Market. I worked with one other colleague and a small crew to execute a new-to-us event in Bellevue last New Year’s Eve. This was my first time leading a project from event day load-in and organization, through event load-out. We managed a highly attended event safely and successfully and our client was very satisfied.
What are you most excited for in your work with The Workshop?
I'm looking forward to West Seattle Summer Fest! This year, I'll be Bar Manager in the Beer Garden—taking on more logistics and leadership. Every event brings new challenges and growth. From starting on crew to becoming Site Manager, and now Production Manager, I’m grateful for the journey and excited to keep learning with this team!
