Every time I work with a new couple, The Maples Estate changes a little for me. Not physically, of course. But I start seeing it through their eyes.

Once I know what they love, what they're drawn to, how they want their wedding to feel, and the world we're beginning to create together, I notice things I might have walked past a hundred times before.

Something growing along the edge of the woods.

An item in our prop closet that I know will suit their wedding perfectly.

That's one of my favorite parts of being both your venue owner and your planner and creative director. I know this property intimately, but every couple gives me an entirely new perspective.

There isn't one way a wedding at The Maples Estate is supposed to look.

We start with you. Then I look at this place I've known for years and discover it all over again.

Before the linen selections, the layouts, and the drapery, there was a two-hour conversation about Claire and Abby. Their relationship, their people, and the wedding they were dreaming of.

That conversation became the starting point for everything we created together.

A coffee hour. A T-shirt toss. A space filled with color and details that felt like them. As their wedding planner and creative director, my joy was in taking those ideas and figuring out how to make them happen here at The Maples Estate, our wedding venue in Upstate New York.

But this part of their review means just as much to me as seeing the finished design:

There was something especially beautiful about getting to host my brother’s wedding here.

I spend so much of my life holding space for other families. I get to know them, learn what matters to them, and help create a weekend where they can slow down and be together. But this time, it was my own family filling the farmhouse, gathering around the tables, and celebrating someone I love so dearly.

I had the privilege of helping my brother and his wife with every decision along the way. I got to design a wedding around who they are, help bring all the pieces together, and even design all their florals.

There’s something incredibly intimate about creating for people you know so well, while somehow getting to know them in entirely new ways along the way.

And then I got to watch it all come to life in a place Louis and I have spent years creating for exactly this purpose.

To hold people.

To give them time together.

To make space for the moments that matter.

The longer I do this, the more I’m convinced that this business isn’t really about weddings.

It’s about creating the conditions for people to live inside the moments that matter most.

We didn’t build The Maples Estate around what the wedding industry told us people wanted.

We built it around the kind of life we wanted to live ourselves.

A life rooted in creativity. Connection. Home. Hospitality.

When Louis and I first walked this property, we didn’t just see a farmhouse and beautiful land. We saw the possibility of creating something that felt different.

A place where people could slow down.

Where the weekend wasn’t rushed.

Where your closest people could settle in, laugh around the fire, wake up together, share meals, wander the property, and celebrate in a way that felt deeply personal.

That philosophy shapes everything we do.

It’s why I spend so much time getting to know my couples before we ever talk about flowers or timelines.

It’s why we host a limited number of weddings each year.

It’s why planning with us is as much about understanding who you are as it is managing the details.

Because I don’t believe beautiful weddings come from following a formula.

I think they come from creating the conditions for a fully lived experience.

We built The Maples Estate around the landscape instead of asking the landscape to fit around the wedding.
