I've always seen Red-shouldered hawks flying around Charlottesville but haven't gotten any good shots of then until now. As soon as I got to the park, I spotted two of these birds perched in the most photogenic spots and got these great shots. Sometimes wildlife photography is just about being in the right place at the right time!

I woke up for a snowy sunrise to get this clean shot of the Rotunda. When I came back to the lawn a couple of hours later, it was absolutely packed with snowball throwers and snowman builders. Waking up early can be the difference between a good shot and a great one!
