There’s one day every year I get homesick. It’s always the first Saturday in May, the Kentucky Derby.

The traditions, the food, the energy of it all. It stays with you.

And this year, I’m doing something I’ve always wanted to do. I’m bringing it here.

We’re hosting a Kentucky Derby Supper Club at Camp Hideaway in Gruene, Texas. An evening under the stars with mint juleps, a multi-course Kentucky-inspired menu, and the race playing as we gather together.

This one is personal for me.

It’s the food I grew up with. The flavors I care deeply about getting right. And the kind of evening that feels both elevated and grounded at the same time.

Dress for the Derby. Seersucker, bow ties, hats that make a statement. Come ready to settle in, not rush through. Seats are limited and tickets are now available.

If this sounds like your kind of night, we’d love to have you at the table. Link in bio to secure your seat.

I attended the home tour in Austin, Texas this weekend and here are three trends I’m seeing in the marketplace and in our clients homes that make entertaining effortless.

There’s something about spring that makes you want to gather again. To open the windows, set the table just because, and invite the people you love to linger a little longer than usual.

But if you’re honest, hosting hasn’t always felt the way you want it to. Somewhere between the cooking, the timing, the cleanup, and making sure everyone else is taken care of, you end up missing the very thing you were trying to create.

And this season, that’s the part we’re changing.

Our new seasonal menu is here. It's thoughtfully designed with bright, seasonal ingredients and a rhythm that allows the evening to unfold with ease.

Duck confit with cherry mustard reduction.
Spring vegetable ravioli with lemon herb cream.
Blueberries, citrus, fresh herbs, and everything that makes this time of year feel alive again.

You at the table. A glass of wine in hand. Laughing, present, fully part of the moment. Your guests cared for. Nothing left for you to manage.

Just a beautifully held evening from beginning to end.

If you’ve been thinking about hosting this spring, we would love to create something that feels like you.

I know the tension. You’re not going to serve something mediocre. You’re not going to throw it together.
You care about the table. The pacing. The food. The conversation. The way it feels.

But you also don’t want to be in the kitchen while everyone else is laughing. You don’t want to miss the story. You don’t want to wake up the next morning more tired than fulfilled.

For some reason, we’ve accepted that you have to choose. Choose excellence or choose ease.

But what if that was never the choice? What if presence and standards were meant to exist together?

Can I tell you something I’ve noticed? The host is almost always the most exhausted person in the room.

Not visibly falling apart. Just slightly tight in the shoulders. Half in the conversation. Half thinking about what’s happening in the kitchen.

I don’t believe depletion is the cost of good hospitality.

The host is the emotional center of the room. If she’s scattered, the room feels it.

You were never meant to disappear from your own gathering.

I've shared my thoughts on Present Hospitality on today's Substack article. Link in bio.

Somewhere along the way, hosting became proof.

Proof that we’re capable.
Proof that we can carry it all.
Proof that everything is seamless.

But gathering was never meant to be a performance.

It was meant to be communion.

If you’ve ever left your own dinner party more exhausted than full, you know exactly what I mean.

I’ve been thinking a lot about hosting lately.

About how it used to feel.
About how it sometimes feels now.

About the subtle shift that happens when you care deeply about gathering — but leave the night more depleted than full.

So I started something new.

It’s called Fully Hosted.

Not recipes.
Not entertaining tips.
Just essays about presence, emotional labor, and what it means to love hosting without disappearing into it.

The first piece is called:
“When Hosting Stops Filling Your Cup.”

If that sentence made you pause, you’ll probably want to read it.

There was a time when hosting filled your cup.

You loved the linens.
The pacing.
The way a night unfolded course by course.

Not because it was impressive.
Because it was expressive.

Small details mattered to you because people mattered.

And then life got fuller.

Hosting didn’t stop meaning something.
It just started costing more energy than it gave back.

You found yourself cooking while everyone else lingered.
Watching the clock.
Refilling glasses.
Managing the flow.

Present, but not really part of it.

Our Signature Dinner Party exists for that exact moment.

A chef-led, multi-course evening designed around the host.

Warm towel service to begin.
A seasonal amuse bouche.
Four plated courses selected from our seasonal menu.
Still and sparkling water poured throughout dinner.
Table side bottle service.
Printed menus.
Conversation cards.
A curated playlist.

We hold the pacing.
We handle the details.
We restore your kitchen before we leave.

So you can sit.
Laugh.
Linger.

Because the most beautiful gatherings are not the ones that look impressive.

They are the ones where the host actually gets to be part of the table.

If hosting still lives in your heart, but you no longer want to carry it alone, you are exactly who this experience was designed for.

Comment “table” or send us a message to explore your next evening.

January

1. SWFT started the year off in South Texas at a client’s hunting ranch. Because hosting friends isn’t limited to your home address.

4. Designed our new logo for our personal ranch in honor of our upcoming 40th anniversary of ownership!
5. Dinner with dear friends visiting and also Doug’s birthday.
6. And I’m now learning how to play mahjong…
