Tomorrow evening, February 15th, vocalist Deborah Winters, pianist Ken Cook, bassist Sascha Jacobsen and I will join forces to present a musical journey that traverses distant lands and diverse styles.

Percussion instruments from around the globe will collaborate with voice, piano and double bass in ever-changing configurations that showcase each member as the leader.

We will perform original compositions and “covers” sourced from Jazz luminaries such as Wayne Shorter, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk and Ornette Coleman; a piece by Brazilian composer and multi-instrumentalist Hermeto Pascoal; and a medley of popular songs recorded by LA-based vocalist Dwight Trible, and more.

Our mission is to uplift spirits and expand musical horizons in the inviting, community-focused atmosphere of the 142 Throckmorton Theatre.

The Gathering

A Musical Journey to Uplift the Spirit and Excite the Senses
“The Gathering” represents an assemblage of folks coming together to celebrate community and creativity in a welcoming venue that supports the arts and artists.

On Saturday evening, February 15th, 2025, vocalist Deborah Winters, pianist Ken Cook, bassist Sascha Jacobsen and percussionist Ian Dogole will unite to take their listeners on a musical journey that traverses distant lands and diverse styles. Percussion instruments from around the globe will collaborate with voice, piano and double bass in ever-changing configurations that showcase each member as the leader. They will perform original compositions and “covers” sourced from the innovators of Jazz, world music and other genres.

This is the third in a series of shows featuring this ensemble at the delightful Throckmorton Theatre. The first was presented during the pandemic (July 2021) and the most recent performance took place this past July in front of a full house of kindred spirits who propelled the band into the stratosphere. That event was emceed by Afrikahn Jahmal Dayvs of the JaZzLine INSTITUTE and later broadcast on KPFA.

On February 15, we look forward to another unforgettable musical experience.
