Meet Jamil Nasim⭐2022 #HART Artist-in-Residence.

Jamil (he/him) is a post-disciplinary musician and visual artist who moves between media and soundscape ecology. He shifts recorded sounds from symbolic Black life and linguistics into hip hop music primarily through sampling technology and electronic processing. Jamil has exhibited at 1506 Haight Gallery and has also been featured by Cosmo Records. He is currently producing an ongoing series of electronic, house, and hip hop music events.

Come celebrate Jamil and all of the other artist residents at the HART Final Showcase on May 14th at the Bayview Opera House presented by PUSH Dance Company + Zaccho Dance Theatre! Space is limited. RSVP now for tickets:

Our 2022 Black Futures artists are: ⭐jose esteban abad (they/them): multidisciplinary choreographer, DJ, and curator, jose's work explores the complexities of cultural identity at the crossroads of gender, sexuality, class, and race in the United States. ⭐Tossie Long (she/her): mother, multidisciplinary performing artist, sound sculptress, facilitator, producer, and director, Tossie speaks to the intersections of culture, personal identity, and sociopolitical issues. ⭐Martin Luther McCoy (he/him): ambassador for Hip Hop Soul and current SFJAZZ Collective member, Martin Luther has been featured in commercials, films and soundtracks including Across The Universe and The Oracle by visual artist Sanford Biggers. ⭐amara tabor-smith (she/her): choreographer, performance maker, and the artistic director of Deep Waters Dance Theater, amara's performance experiences utilize Yoruba Lukumí spiritual technologies to address social and environmental justice, race, gender identity.
