There are some new people joining the party here at Crimson Kitchen, so I thought I’d take a moment to re-introduce myself!

Welcome — I’m Meghna, I teach hands-on Indian cooking classes right in my home kitchen in San Francisco.

My goal? To make Indian flavors approachable, fun, and totally social. I love brining culture to life through food—sharing the vibrant spices and stories I grew up with in a way that’s light and casual.

Whether you’re here to master a new dish or just for the unforgettable experience (and the wine!), I’d love to have you in my kitchen.

Ready to join me? Tap the link in my bio to see upcoming dates and grab your spot!

Last weekend I taught a seasonal Bollywood Beats Mumbai street food class and it was truly an incredible time. Thank you to my new friends who joined me in the kitchen and helped prepare delicious street food like Vada pav, Frankie, mango lassi, and more.

It is so fun to share these recipes and turn my home kitchen into a venue for new skills, new friends, and delicious food.

If you missed out, I have another session of this Bollywood Beats Mumbai Street Food class this Thursday! There are a few spots left, you can join us at the link in bio.

This weekend, I poured my heart into making Murgh Musallam, a dish that’s been on my mind for a while. The process of marinating the whole chicken in fragrant spices and slow-cooking it felt almost meditative. The layers of flavor from the yogurt, saffron, and fragrant spices really made the dish stand out—definitely a showstopper on the table! When it came out of the oven, tender and infused with warmth, it was more than just a meal—it was comfort, nostalgia, and love on the plate.

Mini cocktail idlis paired with coconut chutney offer a delightful twist on traditional mains, making them irresistibly cute finger foods. These bite-sized treats are not only easy to eat but also bursting with flavor when dipped in zesty coconut chutney.

Crab season intertwined with the delight of dosas presents an unconventional pairing, yet it is one I shall revisit. A mash-up you wouldn’t believe works, but oh, it does! The fusion of garlic and chili, gently sautéed with succulent crab meat, served alongside crisp, tangy dosas, culminated in a meal that will go down as one of my favorites.

The adorable restaurant Bombil served the most exquisite Goan thali. The meal was a delightful array of local brown rice, fish cooked in traditional spices, assorted vegetables, pickled anchovies, crispy fried delicacies, a variety of curries, and five distinct pickles, each offering a range of flavors from sweet to sour to spicy and very spicy. It was an uninterrupted explosion of flavors complemented by a cozy and enjoyable ambiance. The presence of local Goan music and an array of trinkets and objects further enhanced the charm of this delightful place. I'm eagerly looking forward to returning.

In Amritsar today, trying out their famous stuffed aloo kulchas and choley.
The kulchas were stuffed with paneer and potatoes and cooked in butter and further topped with some more. It was rich, spicy and so flavorful.

After days of eating out, I needed homemade Indian meal that is satisfying and delicious.
Made a simple dal with garlic potatoes and methi matar malaria (fenugreek, peas and cream).
With fresh peas in season this dish was outstanding with simple rotis.
