Most of their guests arrived early, so Caitlin (she/her) and Melissa (she/her) started their wedding weekend with a casual breakfast, final setup, and people disappearing into creek tubing, hikes, and swims long before the ceremony kicked off.
They didn’t rush. About ninety minutes before the ceremony, they split off to get ready with their chosen people around them and then came back together for a simple exchange of vows. After that, everything flowed - no rigid schedule, just good food from Mexican on the Run, laughter, dancing, and speeches that landed in all the right places.
The first dance turned into parent dances and then a packed dance floor thanks to DJ Rosie Hicks. When the party slowed down, folks gathered around the fire for a set from a friend who had passed away, and that quiet winding-down felt just as important as all the high-energy moments earlier in the day.
Their weekend was a DIY project in the best way: chaotic spreadsheets, friends pitching in, and a celebration that didn’t stop because the clock said it had to. It felt like chosen family, creek water, tacos, glitter, and the woods altogether - exactly how they imagined it.
