September is moving, and San Diego is giving us plenty of reasons to stay connected to the city instead of just watching life through a screen. Tonight, Angus & Julia Stone are hosting a Karaoke Bar pre-release listening party at Werewolf downtown from 7–9 p.m., ahead of the album’s official release tomorrow. Over at Mission Bay, there is also Parrotdise on the Bay, a Jimmy Buffett tribute night from 6–9 p.m. — another reminder that San Diego always has a soundtrack if you step outside and find it.
And East County, the local scene is active too. George Birge performs at The River inside Sycuan Casino Resort tonight from 8–11 p.m., and Lemon Grove’s History Alive program is hosting a local-history talk at 7 p.m. for anybody looking for a quieter community move close to Santee.
On the bigger music side, September is already packed with artists dropping new work and building their next chapter. That is the reminder for everybody creating in San Diego: you do not need a major moment to begin moving like a professional. Your next post, your next rehearsal, your next conversation, or your next piece of content can be the proof that your vision is active.
Mental health check: do not let a busy season convince you that every moment needs to be productive. Give yourself enough room to breathe, think, and reset. Rest is not falling behind when it helps you return with clarity.
