The Civil Veterans Foundation INC. is a non-profit organization committed to serving military veterans in need, by strengthening families, and building communities. The Civil Veterans Foundation INC. provides a variety of social service programs available. Our programs primary focus is for veterans’ transitioning back to a civilian lifestyle, Temporary Shelters for homeless veterans and low-income housing for veterans that's exiting homelessness into a permanent housing program, as well as drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

The Civil Veterans Foundation Inc and Veteran Support Team of America has collaborated with The (HUD-VASH) Program which is an effort to move Veterans and their families out of homelessness and into permanent housing. The program provides long–term case management, clinical/supportive services, and permanent housing assistance for chronically homeless Veterans. The program combines Housing Choice Voucher assistance for homeless Veterans with case management and clinical services provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

JOB SUMMARY

The Human Resource Coordinator is an entry-level position involving administrative tasks related to hiring, developing and managing employees. The Human Resource Coordinator will often assist Team Managers in maintaining employee records, looking for qualified candidates, providing orientation and handling employee inquiries.

Human Resource Coordinator duties and responsibilities

Human Resource Coordinator will have access to all human resources procedures and assists with tasks throughout all areas of the Human Resource Department. In addition to recruiting and placing new employees, the Human Resource Coordinator will assists with guiding employees through the various human resource processes, and answering any questions.

Human Resource Coordinator may also assist with administering bonuses, processing payroll and handling any problems or questions. The position also has an active role in ensuring all human resource functions are complying with local, state and federal regulations.

Additional duties may include:

Consulting with the employer and identifying employment needs

Interviewing potential applicants regarding their skills, experience and education

Contacting references and performing background checks on applicants

Informing applicants about position details, including working conditions, benefits and duties

Hiring or referring qualified applicants for the employer

Conducting or helping with new employee orientation

Keeping process paperwork and employment records

Human Resource Coordinator skills and qualifications

Human Resource Coordinator should contain the following skills and qualifications requirements:

Communication skills: Excellent speaking and listening skills to share information effectively, while paying careful attention to concerns and questions from employees and job applicants.

Decision-making skills: For reviewing applicants' qualifications and for working to resolve employee disputes.

Detail-oriented: When ensuring the workplace is compliant with labor standards and when maintaining records regarding employee grievances, performing background checks and reviewing candidate qualifications.

Interpersonal skills: For interacting with new employees while conversing and connecting with people from various backgrounds and experiences.


Human Resource Coordinator Education and Training Requirements

Human Resource Coordinator must have experience in human resource management or a related field in business, accounting, professional writing, psychology or industrial relations.

The Door Host is directly responsible for events that represents the Veteran Support Team mission and it's team members. The Door Host will work with the Project Manager to develop an event action plan and goals, identify development of event opportunities, in conjunction with the Project Manager keep records relating to funds raised, track time and success while providing daily, weekly, and monthly updates to Project Manager regarding upcoming duties and events.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to follow instructions with limited supervision. Ability to greet and respond to the general public courteously. Ability to abide by required dress code. Ability to engage the general public while maintaining social distancing mandates and be responsible for Veteran Support Team provided materials.

An ideal candidate for a Door Host is someone who can communicate effectively and has good interpersonal skills, is well informed of all organization’s activities and programs, is aware of the future direction and plans of the Veteran Support Team, has a good working knowledge of the duties and policies of all Veteran Support Team programs and fundraising efforts, and is positive and enthusiastic.

Minimum Qualifications:

Being a Door Host for the Veteran Support Team is an opportunity to contribute to the overall development of the Veteran Support Team and its programs. The Veteran Support Team is a friendly and dedicated team of individuals on a mission to help homeless military Veterans succeed in their employment and housing goals. Ability to perform all duties with an understanding of the mission, ministry, philosophy, culture, and protocol of Veteran Support Team and conducts all duties in accordance with the mission of the organization and its principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism. Duties are performed standing and may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of sitting and walking. Limited physical effort required associated with lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.)

Compensation:

$15.00 per hour with opportunity for 30% commission bonuses

Veteran Support Team of America is committed to serving military Veterans in need, by strengthening families and building communities. The Veteran Support Team of America is in alliance with a variety of social service programs available to all San Diego County communities. Our primary focus is for our Veterans transitioning back to a civilian lifestyle, temporary shelters for our homeless Veterans and low-income housing for our veterans who are exiting homelessness into permanent housing, as well as drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Veteran Support Team of America promotes housing stability to homeless or at risk of becoming homeless Veterans and their families. The goal is to provide our clients with the skills necessary to maintain long term, independent living. Our services includes a short-term crisis intervention program, with services that includes case management, employment, housing and financial counseling, as well as assistance in obtaining benefits and other services.
