Ending 2021 with these two in the big Apple was a pretty solid representation of the last year. I think most of us in the industry have seen some what of a change in how clients are deciding to spend their “big day” and non-traditional seems to be a new trend. One comment we receive most from our clients is the range in content we put out, which is our intention. Our approach to each event is to embrace who the couple is, their vision, vibe and overall feel of the day for their final edit. These two were no exception to that method! Here’s a little teaser to bring in the New Year mood!

I am headed to The Breakers next week and just dreaming about their ballrooms 😍 What is your personal preference, a well appointed ballroom or al fresco reception?

This past weekend we had the honor of filming AND photographing two of our closest friends elopement in Nashville. They gathered (including themselves and us) 12 people to come together to celebrate them and their magic. However, with the amount of love in the room, it felt like 1,000 people must have been present. It just goes to show you what is really important in this world. Hold on to the ones who feel like sunshine and joy. You don’t need many and the love that is shared is always enough. Also, how hot are these two?!

Intimate, small, micro, limited. The reality is LOVE is going NOWHERE, and it should always be captured. We’re encouraging everyone today to run into your spouse/child/sibling/mother/father etc.’s arms like Bryan & Haley. Guaranteed to make you feel better, or your money back.

In late June we were contacted by Carly and Isaco as they were planning last minute to move their wedding from NY to San Diego due to Covid. They knew they wanted to keep their wedding date but also had many family and friends who would be traveling from the West coast as well, so they decided to create and intimate celebration here in La Jolla, CA! It was not only about keeping the wedding, but their date was based around traditions of their heritage, which feel even more important in this time.
From the gorgeous bride: “July 2nd was important to us because that was our original date to get married, and we really wanted to keep that exact date. However due to COVID we created a small intimate celebration of love. We ended up having the wedding of our dreams and we can’t stop smiling. We appreciate all the vendors who were supportive and went above and beyond.”

I’m reposting this from my sister because I feel like she said it so well...
“Dear World,

I am so sad for you right now.

I'm sad about the racism. I'm sad for those who are mothers just like me, but who have to teach their beautiful babies about how to keep themselves safe in a world where people are threatened by the color of their skin.

I'm sad for George Floyd and so many others who have died unnecessarily because of fear and ignorance and hatred.

I'm sad about the violence. I'm sad about the man I read about who was shot and killed this weekend trying to keep two women from being robbed by looters. I'm sad about the video I saw of a man being beaten to death by rioters calling themselves protesters.

I'm sad about the division I see everyday in my news feed. I'm sad about a government that makes everything us against them, whites against blacks, Republicans against Democrats. And I'm sad that we buy into it.

I don't know what to do or what to say or how to fix any of it. I just know this world needs more love.”

We are ready to listen and learn. I am truly sorry if we have ever made anyone feel less than the true gift they are to the world. I’m sorry that it has taken so long for us to wake up. I’m sorry that in the face of discomfort, I didn’t ask the questions I should have. But now we know, now we can change.

If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Cor. 13:1-7

We have heard this passage over and over again, but how could we still miss it? How do we still not know how to love? We acknowledge that we do not understand what you have been through as we are a white privileged family, but we stand with you in love. We promise to grow, to raise our children in awareness, and to not turn a blind eye. We are called to change, and we will be the change... It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

During our initial meeting with Stephen and Allie, Stephen briefed me on part 1 of their wedding weekend, The Roast. As one of their family traditions, a roast was the customary kickoff to start the celebration. When we started filming I wasn’t sure what to expect (and I’m not so sure Allie knew either) but we quickly realized we were in for a treat. There were laughs, tears and digs but all around so much fun! It was such a great icebreaker to engage both sides of the family.
