Traveling often to Italy is my way to recharge and get inspired, even if I am there for work.
Villa D’Este if you ask me, is the original Villa.
Back in the days when I was a kid we would go there with family, all well dressed to spend an afternoon.
Growing up I had the chance to write my bachelor’s degree theses on the quality control at Villa D’Este. I was so young and fascinated by the high touch experience they offered.
In recent years me and Ben brought our family there to celebrate Christmas Day and lately I have been there for work.
When you stay at the Villa you get to experience the best high touch service there is, yet you have the chance to immerse yourself into the Italian way of living. It only takes 10 minutes to be in Como city center.
The beauty and peacefulness of the lake, the unbelievable history each of these walls and gardens tell as soon as you glance at them; the many sculptures and art that make you wonder “who did this and what is the story behind it?”,the Italian slow living where there is always time for aperitivo….
These are just a few things couples should consider when having a wedding there.
Not only having beautiful decor and flowers, when you have such a historic canvas, making it more beautiful is the easy part
Not only having branded Lake Como everything for your guests.
Share a meal at a family-run restaurant
Stand at the counter of a café to sip an espresso
Glance at the morning paper, (even if you cannot read a word)
Sit on a bench and just watch the world go by
Ask a local where to find the best gelato
Wander the streets on a busy Saturday afternoon
Buy a silk scarf (Como is renowned for it)
Dress as though attending a Prada show
THAT is the experience, it is what transforms a celebration into a memory and I feel very lucky to have a whole 20+ years of that.
