It was such a fun evening with members of the San Diego art and design community! Thank you Christine Tolentino from and Laurie Fisher from for organizing such a great event and including as a featured art medium.
Ring of Protection — I participated in this year. I created a floral interpretation for an Iranian nasal protector from the 19thC. The nasal protector was placed on the front of a helmet to protect the face in battle. It is a beautiful piece with inscriptions praising Allah as The One and Protector.
For the floral interpretation, I wanted to depict protection so I placed a single in a ring of bending over one another to shield the bloom. I used the revered colors of Islam — green, white, gold and blue — as the color palette. To capture the spiritual component of the piece, I raised the ring above the vessel to make it appear elevated and floating.
Thank you for giving local artists an opportunity to participate in such a creative community event. It was really special!

I See You — I worked a lot with this month and it was so much fun! Structurally, it is so beautiful and so unique. There are over 600 different allium varieties in all types of shapes, sizes and colors. For local flower sourcing, they are predominantly grown in the Northern Hemisphere and there are 40 varieties native to California (home).
What I liked the most about is that it will last as a cut flower for 2 weeks and it looks beautiful in all stages of life. It starts smaller when many of the individual flowers are closed and then expands in volume as it reaches its flowering peak. Once the individual flower petals begin to drop, the colorful stamen remains to keep its circular structure. A
Architectural Interest — This installation was designed to bring architectural interest and natural elements into a large and industrial space. Warm and bright colors for a cold and wet week. Flowers just make you feel good. Thank you for picking in the rain and spreading joy.
I have had this design in my head for weeks and glad to finally bring it to fruition. As a floral designer, I appreciate so many varieties of flowers that I used to ignore. The really large blooms of the and the continuous blooming over several days made it the perfect flower for this design. I took these photos over several days and loved watching the composition of the arrangement change as more flowers bloomed and some flowers started to wane. I don’t have a favorite photo or time - I love them all. I am learning that every flower can shine.
Bringing it in HOT — Nothing like bright orange and to warm up a room. The beautiful garden roses from and bring the temperature down just enough not to get burned:) This fall arrangement feels just right for a windy and cool January day.

Fashion Trends — Vogue identified several trends from the Spring/Summer 2024 collections on the Paris Runways earlier this Fall — three of the trends were sculptural volume, elongated silhouette and feathery touches.
