It’s been one full year since completing my internship with my mentor, and I honestly can’t put into words how much growth I’ve experienced—not just in business, but within myself.
To go from being an internship student to now becoming her assistant… wow. That alone reminds me how far I’ve come. A year ago, I was learning, observing, asking questions, and trying to find my place in this industry. Now, I’m walking alongside someone I deeply admire, continuing to learn while growing into the woman and entrepreneur I’m called to be.
Yesterday, we attended an incredible event where we were privately invited, surrounded by some of the most well-known wedding planners, photographers, and vendors in the industry. Sitting in that room, I had a moment of reflection because a year ago, I never would’ve imagined being in spaces like that.
I’m so thankful for this amazing woman. She has continuously pulled me out of my comfort zone and placed me in rooms I once felt like I didn’t belong in. But through her mentorship, she’s shown me something powerful: we belong.
As Black women, we deserve to be in every room, at every table, and in every conversation. We are capable of building, leading, creating, and thriving.
This journey hasn’t been easy. Being a full-time entrepreneur while also working a full-time job comes with sacrifices, exhaustion, tears, and moments of doubt. There were times I questioned myself, my purpose, and whether I was truly cut out for all of this.
So when I saw this quote yesterday, it hit me deeply and brought me to tears:
“Stay close to people who inspire you, believe in you, support you, and celebrate with you.”
And that’s exactly what you’ve been for me.
Thank you for believing in me, pushing me, challenging me, and reminding me that there is room for me in this industry. Thank you for helping me see the version of myself I’m still growing into.
I’m forever grateful for your mentorship, your wisdom, and your presence in my life. 🤍
