A true wedding in the Burg! Not so funny thing happened on the way to Kevin and Alyssa’s wedding.
On October 14, 2023, we welcomed a new member into our family. A family that grew three weeks prior when my niece, Kevin's sister got married too! I of course was the coordinator for both weddings and enjoyed every minute of it.
Anyway, the week before the wedding I checked on all the vendors. Confirmed each arrival time, made sure they were paid and made sure they knew what the timeline was on the wedding day. When I called my florist, I caught her on her way into the ER. I thought she was there for her grandmother only to be told “no, its me” I wished her well and told her to let me know what was going on. Well, days go by, and I hear nothing from her, so I start looking for her. I found out my florist was in ICU and is incoherent! So, I waited to the very last minute to let the groom know what’s happening, I left out the part that we had no centerpieces though. Friday, day before wedding, I take off to San Antonio to pick up 13 gold centerpiece stands, eight boxes of flowers, bridal bouquets and boutonnieres with the intent to pack it all in my Ford Edge all the while the lady at the flower shop tells me that all these boxes were not going to fit in my car. I had the “hold my beer” moment! I make it back to Fredericksburg in time to clean up and get to rehearsal. I stay for just a bit to get everyone set and I make an excuse that I need to get home to take care of a few things. My family kicks it into gear and they set up a shop for me outside on my back porch, my son sets up a tv, and I get to work! By 9pm all thirteen centerpieces were made and ready to go for the next day. But reality sets in, if I leave them outside the likely hood of deer getting into them was great. I contacted Featherstone because there was a wedding that night, asked if I could drop off flowers that night, they said yes and that the wedding ended early so, I load up my little car along with a 16ft ladder and made 5 trips to drop off 13 centerpieces and anything else I could get into my car that would make room for me the next morning. I was done at 3am and started my morning at 7am on wedding day. It was smooth sailing after this.
I finally broke the news to my nephew, and he took it well. Everything they wanted they pretty much got with very few exceptions. By the looks of these photos, they had no clue of the drama that went on behind the scenes!
That is what a good wedding planner does, takes care of it so you don’t have to. You don't have to hire me, just hire someone!
