Our vision is to create a midsized, multifunctional, performing arts and education space with strong community partnerships, and accessible programming. The Salem Playhouse - formerly known as The Bridge at 211 - aims to bring new life to a historic landmark, serving the greater Salem community as a hub for artistic, cultural, and educational events. Rooted in the city’s rich heritage, we’re commi

tted to shaping its future as a place to connect, celebrate, and learn. We also seek to preserve the legacy of our building, which is steeped in Salem’s history and lore. Inspired by its founders – advocates for abolition, women’s suffrage, LGBTQ+ rights, and other movements for social justice – we aim to honor their progressive spirit through inclusive programming and community engagement.

A huge thank you to the city of Salem for the generous CPA Grant to kickstart a capital improvement plan that will allow us to open the mid-level of our building after being closed for over two years!

Our Story

We are a hub for artistic, cultural and social events in a 19th century landmark. We are repurposing a former church to provide programming that will enrich, entertain, and engage the community, in music and the arts, while honoring the building's rich heritage. We are a nonprofit organization providing a home to a number of community service groups.
