It’s a love story 46 years and 3 continents in the making! Tina and Jerry met in 1979 in a German pub while he was backpacking Europe. They fell immediately in love but the connection wasn’t practical. They went separate ways, she in Germany, and he in America and later Australia, but they always kept in touch. A couple of years ago, Tina’s friend backed out of a planned trip to Iceland. She invited Jerry to join her and the reconnection was immediate! Best wishes to these lovely and spirited people. They made my day.

It’s one of my favorite weekends of the year, Kindred Matters Family Camp. Kindred Matters is a nonprofit that brings together foster children who are separated from their siblings by the foster care system. My kids, now adopted, look forward to this weekend all year long, and I do too. I served on the nonprofit board for this organization so I know just how much work goes into making this event a success. I am really, truly, grateful.

Congrats to Desiree and Quinton. They met in an online bible study and their first date was a six-hour telephone call as Desiree drove to another state to take care of her sister! Desiree is new to Oregon, so we married them in the most “Oregon” location we could think of - a riverbank near an old stand of fir trees.

Today we announced something pretty cool - this summer we're starting night court - a time when everyday people can access the courthouse without missing work or interfering with childcare obligation. Check out this neat story Fox12 did on us. It's about 5:45 into the 4:00 newscast.
