Soothe Our Souls (SOS) is a volunteer organization created to provide a healing environment for those in our community that are facing a serious health challenge by providing free of charge sailing trips on the first Sunday of every month. Captain Dan, of Dolphin Landings Charter Boat Center, founded SOS in 2012 following the passing of a dear friend and fellow sailor of 40 years. In the weeks bef
ore his passing, on Sunday mornings, Dan would take his friend and family, along with some of their friends on sailing trips. It didn't take long to see that the peaceful setting further improved the mental and emotional well being of all involved. It was from those wonderful experiences, and in honor of Dan's friend, that SOS was created. SOS is committed to helping other health-challenged individuals and their support group by providing the opportunity to find respite and peace while they “navigate” their journey to well-being. Dolphin Landings Charter Boat Center has been making memories since 1972 and wants to provide those facing serious health problems the opportunity to benefit from time on the water and create their own special memories while celebrating life. SOS is not a 501(c)3 at this time. All expenses, to date, have been funded by friends of Dolphin Landings Charter Boat Center. SOS has very low administration costs and the majority of all donations go directly to our sailing program, and to expand the sailing program so that many more individuals and their support groups can have access to the healing serenity of sailing at sea free of charge.
