December Ukrainian Night gathered all who support and pray for Ukraine.
Prayers for Ukrainian victory, Ukrainian defenders, volunteers and medics, for those who lost family members, refugees, POWs, civilian hostages and abducted children, Ukrainian and American governments and were followed by very inspirational speech of our dear friend Ken Cooley.
Sunflower Society had two news to share. First one: an alert about recent ROCOR (Russian Orthodox Church Outside the Russia) activity on Capitol Hill. They were visiting Congressional Offices spreading disinformation about Ukraine prosecuting churches.
Second: A H.R. 5962 about Ukrainian POWs, civilian hostages and abducted children was signed to law. It was introduced by Rep. Greg Landsman (D-OH) and is supposed to authorize the Department of Justice and the Department of State to provide law enforcement and intelligence technical assistance, training, capacity building, and advisory support to the Government of Ukraine to achieve the exchange of prisoners of war, the release of civilian detainees, and the return of forcibly transferred Ukrainian children, and for other purposes.
Sunflower Society calls for action on both issues. First of all follow Russia's War on Faith and spread true information about situation with Russian prosecutions on Temporary Occupied Territories of Ukraine. If you can help us to organize a screening of documentary “A Faith Under Siege” in any church, contact Sunflower Society.
Secondary, call your representatives and ask them to support H.R. 5962.
Beside prayers we were blessed by beautiful singing by Natalia Ginkul.
Special guest Eugenia Piaskivska from instagram page presented beautiful calendars inspired by strength and unbroken spirit of Ukrainian women. Calendars are on sale, profits will go to support those who became a victims of sexual crimes committed by Russians during the occupation of Kyiv region.
Ukrainian Night is a monthly event by Stephan Skots, Svitlana Iotko and Sunflower Society where church and community leaders can unite in prayer and work on projects to benefit local communities and Ukraine.
