I met Rachel at the bank a few days ago.
There was a photo on her desk. I felt something in me say ask.

That’s how I learned about Michelle—her daughter—who was tragically murdered four years ago while waiting for the light rail early one morning.

Her story stayed with me.
So on Friday, I brought her flowers.

Because I knew Mother’s Day was coming.
Because I imagined how heavy it might feel.
And because I wanted her to know she wasn’t alone.

Today, Rachel is spending Mother’s Day at —a coffee shop her sister opened in Michelle’s memory. Bumblebear was Rachel’s nickname for her daughter. Now it’s the name of a space that holds her spirit—gentle, brave, full of love.

Mother’s Day looks different for everyone.
For some, it’s celebration. For others, remembrance.
For many, it’s both.

If you’re nearby, treat your mom—or yourself—to a cup of coffee.
The coffee is good. The meaning runs deeper.
It’s a space made with love, in memory of Michelle.
And I know it would mean a lot to Rachel to feel that love reflected back.
