Fits and Stops Photography Striking photography + videography for hopeless romantics. Weddings • Engagements • Portraits I’m P.J. Which begat a photography blog. Crikey!

Oswald, and I’m a wedding photographer because of the joy I get out of documenting the advance of love. But hey, I also love capturing engagement photography and family photography as well. Buying our family’s first camera sparked my love of photography. Which transformed into a full-service photography business. My adventures in photography have led me to Indian weddings, to landscapes in the Sco

ttish highlands, to high desert mountain biking trails of Utah, to government offices, and into the urban heart of Sacramento. Who would have expected this? I bring a homegrown eye for crystal clear photography with technical shooting and post-production know-how. I design some truly beautiful albums to remember life’s greatest milestones and people. And I've rounded up second photographers and videographers to bring a complete storytelling team to your wedding. We deliver the care and service you’d expect from old friends. Give me a call at 916.281.9616 and let’s plan out your session or event!

From the temple to the barn, Gwyneth and Chase brought all the sweetness, fun, and authenticity to their wedding day.

They've been tight from the get-go, as it turns out. They first crossed paths in college on a dating app and made plans to meet up in real life. But the first date never happened. A few days before they had scheduled the date they ran into each other at the university library. And from that first minute they got along like a house on fire--hardly spending a minute apart since.

We're so glad to see these two pledge their lives to each other. And may God bring plenty more surprises into the many, many minutes ahead of them.

And what a treat for us to serve a second bride from this cozy family!

(Thanks to Danielle for Lead shooting this springtime wedding)

"Where you go, I go; and where you live, I’ll live. Your people are my people, your God is my god;"
Ruth 1:16-17

These words were spoken aloud during Genafine and Brandon's wedding vows, though they permeated the whole of their wedding day.

I could feel it in their interactions with each other, and with the new extended family they are forming.

I could sense it in the ululations and spontaneous dancing that broke out throughout the day.

I could hear it as these two walked into their reception to the tune of "Enter Sandman" and some mighty applause.

They were so eager to honor each other, their guests, and the God who started this crazy love story.

Congratulations to you both, Genafine and Brandon, and may God bless all of your comings and goings!

When I ask my seniors what they're going to miss most about their high school years, it's always the same answer:

The people.

Incredible friends, great teachers, teammates who wouldn't quit, dedicated coworkers.

Now many seniors are hot off the college application circuit—trumpeting all those accomplishments, extracurricular activities and grades. And those essays are expected to be next level. It'd be enough to make you think that it's knowledge, experience and effort that mattered most to them. But I think that's simply playing the application game.

The fact that these seniors see the people around them as treasures to be celebrated and remembered shows me that they really have learned a thing or two on their way out the door of high school.

Congratulations to these three recent seniors on a job well done, and I wish them all the best!

Here are a few sumptuous textures, styling cues, and high-flying skylines from a recent wedding we captured at The Citizen Hotel, Autograph Collection.

It makes an incredible place to celebrate a wedding, as diverse spaces on its many floors host different experiences.

The bride got ready on the 14th floor, with a private balcony that overlooked downtown Sacramento. Meanwhile, their ceremony unfolded in the pillared first floor ballroom, and concluded with an invitation to a cocktail party in the Scandal Lounge on the 2nd floor. And the reception? It happened on the 7th floor in the Metropolitan Terrace. The views from those heights were just amazing, while still feeling so far removed from the city streets below.

This is just the sort of place you want to get lost in. And also, just the sort of the place you want to get married.

Alegría pura en la boda de Pitaya y Juan.

It was everything a wedding should be: family, faith, romance, tradition, laughter, and the widest smiles you've ever seen.

Marriage is a promise, a joining, an adventure. And marriage is undeniably a gift.

I mean, think about the vows you'll exchange. They may be written in iambic pentameter. They may be the time-honored "in sickness and in health" with a "thee" or two thrown in for good measure. Or you might even get a little finessing from your friendly neighborhood AI. However you say it, speak it from the deepest part of you.

These amazing words mean you'll give your very best to each other. No holding back.

As in, nobody's happiness means more to you than theirs.

As in, you'll pick up the slack when they quit their job to start a business.

As in, you'll wade through conflict to ensure that you're both coming out feeling heard and loved.

As in, kids may steal your hearts, but they won't come between you two.

As in, the doctor's prognosis is grim, but you'll be there to carry the load.

As in, you'll keep on flirting and wooing each other beyond your 50th wedding anniversary.

Nobody said it would be easy. It may be hardest thing you'll ever do. And it will be the greatest gift you ever give.

These are a few bridal portraits of Kaylor—looking absolutely dazzling—on the day she promised to give the best of her life to Cole.

I promise that you'll always end up with beautiful legacy photos from your engagement session. You know, the ones where you're looking right at the camera with those winning smiles that cause even perfect strangers to fall all over themselves commenting about how cute you are together.

These are not those photos.

And I suspect you'll agree that Stephanie and Benson are nevertheless spectacularly cute together.
