About 30 foodies watched, learned, and sampled delicious and creative cocktail party fare July 26 as Joe White, chef and caterer of Myrtle Grove Catering, led a “Let’s Party” Cooking School on the Tarboro campus.

Fall Cooking Schools with Stephen Ribustello, executive chef and co-owner of On The Square restaurant and wine store, are scheduled for September 20, October 18, and November 15. Call 823-5166, ext. 356, for details.

The week of July 18, elementary school campers learned how to extract strawberry DNA, build bottle rockets, make network cables, build and program with LEGO Mindstorm robot kits, and much more!

More than 50 Edgecombe high school seniors declared their intention to attend Edgecombe Community College this fall at ECC Signing Day held in Edgecombe high schools May 11. Signing Day is a national initiative to celebrate students for making a commitment to higher education. Students, parents, and college and high school officials attended ECC Signing Day events at North Edgecombe, SouthWest Edgecombe, and Tarboro high schools.

Team ECC participated in the first ever mud run in Rocky Mount on May 14. The event was hosted by the Rocky Mount Rotary Club. Funds raised from Tackle the Tar will go toward scholarships for local students to attend local colleges.

The annual Preservation Trades Show was held Saturday, April 30, on the Tarboro campus. Crafters from North Carolina and the Southeast demonstrated preservation trades and staff displays about historic preservation.

About 30 students attended Edgecombe Community College’s fifth annual Theatre, Music, and Dance Camp held in June.
