A fine day for another run to my favorite maltster to pick up another order of their good stuff. I’m stocking up on the two base malts I use most frequently - Virginia Pilsner and English Pale- along with a few specialty malts as well. Did you know that all of the barley they source is Virginia-grown?

I also picked up a few ounces of Cascade hops from .hopworks to make an all-Virginia Pale Ale. Good stuff indeed.

I need some help making a choice. I’m looking to add a mobile taproom ASAP to my bag of tricks and as of today, these are my two most promising ideas.

Help me decide whether vehicle 1 or 2 better suits my brand keeping this in mind: Small Batch Brewing is a high-end, customizable beverage service company for people looking to add a unique experience to an upcoming event.

The vehicle look matters just as much as the experience of driving it. There are definite pros and cons; the Escalade offers a level of road-worthiness without sacrificing the look of a premium vehicle. A Land Rover Defender makes its own statement and is surely a head-turner but it comes at the cost of driveability, a much higher price point and likely more maintenance.

Those that know me well would predict I’d pick the Land Rover as I’ve always wanted one, but this has to be a business decision, not one based on emotion.

If this was you, what would you pick, 1 or 2? Let me know in the comments! Thanks

Crummy photos > no photos. Here’s a few shots from a Burgers and Brews event I did last night. It was a great evening! Partygoers cleared me out of almost everything that I brought.

When I do events like this, I tend to use my trusty keezer as my primary serving device. With four taps, I can bring just about something for everyone. When it’s really hot out, I don’t have to deal with melting ice - I just plug in the keezer and everything stays nice and cold.

Want a similar setup / service for your upcoming event? Hit me up and let’s make it happen!!

And now it’s time to take care of the aftermath from back-to-back events - lots and lots of cleaning!

Slinging the drinks this evening at for the quarterly meeting / happy hour.

Rocking the Red Barchetta Mixed Berry Blonde and the first entry under the Different Strings name - a Jalapeño / Lime Hard Seltzer infused with syrup made from served on ice made by .chiller .

Hard to determine the crowd favorite. Feels like a pretty even 50/50 split to me.

Thanks for having me out !! Excited to see what you have in store for VASFA.

It’s a sad day in the brewery today as my faithful and ever so reliable Easy Dens gravity reader has been rendered out of service. I used it as recently as last night so it happened maybe last night while I was cleaning it?

The damage is in the circled area. The little clear tube that carries fluid through the unit has broken and no longer connects to the outlet, so the fluid just drains into the inside of the unit.

The weird thing is that I don’t hear anything rattling around inside of it, so where or how this broke is a mystery.

C’est la vie - it’s not a day in the brewery unless something doesn’t go according to plan. I’m heading out of town through Wednesday night so at least I don’t have anything to brew, which will give me time to replace this. Those in the know will feel my pain.
