LONGSHOREMAN CASUAL DRAWING – IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION

January 14, 2026 – January 21, 2026
This post is to clear up misinformation that has been circulating regarding the Longshoreman Casual Drawing.
INTEREST CARD APPLICATIONS
All ILWU Longshoreman employees have received one interest card to give to a friend or loved one.
🔹Individuals who receive an interest card are guaranteed placement on the list
🔹Placement order is NOT guaranteed, the sequence is determined by the lottery drawing
🔹Having an interest card does not mean priority placement (i.e. A or B status)
PUBLIC APPLICATION
🔹There are NO mail-in applications or postcards
🔹All applications are submitted online only

⚠️ DO NOT submit more than one application per person.
Submitting multiple applications will result in automatic disqualification.
BUYING / SELLING INTEREST CARDS
🚫 Do NOT fall for the okie doke.
Some ILWU employees are selling interest cards for extremely high prices. Purchasing one does NOT mean:
🔹Automatic A or B status
🔹Immediate work
🔹Faster hiring
An interest card only guarantees placement on the list, nothing more and shame on the employees that are selling theirs.😡 We all should be looking out for one another in this high economy.
Please understand:
🔹After the drawing the process can take years
🔹Everyone must start as a casual
🔹Advancement requires time, consistency, and grinding, just like every Longshoreman who was not grandfathered in
ABOUT THE DRAWING
Because the public application pool will likely exceed the amount of interest card applicants:
🔹A pre-drawing will occur to align with the total amount of interest card recipients given by an ILWU employee
🔹This will occur before “THEE DRAWING”
🗓 On or about February 2, 2026, the official drawing will be held.
