Good morning Flower Lovers & Supporters of my gardening hobby.
Today I would like to share something personal in hopes it will inspire and move you to donate to the GoFundme campaign below.
Six years ago, someone started a GoFundme for my family as we were forced to navigate my late-husband’s scary and incredibly stressful battle of cancer. The money that was raised was helpful in so many ways, but it also spoke of the love and the support that friends and family and even strangers in our community wrapped our family up in. As many of you know we ultimately lost Andrew, but I will never forget all the ways people helped us. Starting this side gig of selling flowers was a way for me to keep busy (doing something I truly love), reconnect with life outside my house, and bring joy to members of our community. Whether I sell out of flowers or not, the comments I receive tell me I have succeeded in my original goals!
Cancer sucks. It’s just plain does. And now this sweet 8 year-old boy named Matvii in our community and his family are facing the same cataclysmic event and my heart hurts for them. Matvii is a member of the swim team that all of my kids have been a part of. My daughter has coached him for the last 3 years. Approx 2-3 months ago, everything probably seemed normal and now this…
What can I do? I can use my small but growing platform here and all the flowers I can get my hands on in my garden and offer up a fundraiser for Matvii and his family.
If you have read this far, I am grateful. I am planning to set up a flower stem bar and a table of small bouquets today from approx 10am - 6:30pm or until sell out. Every penny will go to Matvii’s family.
If you cannot swing by but feel you can donate even a few dollars, please see the GoFundme link attached to this message to read more about this boy and try to spare a few bucks.
Thank you!
