We are jumping in to full Valentine’s mode, or is it mood? Regardless, we are ready for the big day of ❤️! This fun flower design Battle of the Sexes Valentine’s date night goes live tomorrow. (Or maybe we should say Battle of the Sexiest) Bring your sweetheart for a little flower design competition. Each couple receives two design elements to complete dueling bouquets. 🍷 🧀 🍫 round out a fun, festive, feisty night of Valentine’s design. And, yes it’s on Feb. 14!
You've Gotta Kiss Some Frogs. Pucker Up ButterCup! Romance isn't easy and sometimes you've got to kiss some frogs to find your prince or princess. Here's a little flower nod to all those awkward dates and misguided love connections we make on the way to finding a soulmate. The road can have its potholes but when you find THE ONE the journey is beautiful and oh so "hoppy.' Designed by Kyle hanging out with Cydney in the kitchen talking about first loves and lost loves and all the flower stories in between. In a great frog planter from Burton & Burton. Available for same day delivery in Raleigh and the Triangle.
We know, it's that song your mom sang along too full volume everytime she took you and friends to the movies. It's always playing in some elevator somewhere in full Muzak glory. And, even though you won't admit it, you remember swooning over Manilow on American Bandstand and you keep this gem on a Spotify list. What's not to love about a great sing-along love song, right? We couldn't agree more so here's our little ditty, The Can't Smile Without You. A cheery pink, yellow and pastel confection of love and joy. Designed by Kyle in a whimsical pink smiley face vase by our friends at Burton & Burton. Perfect for Valentine's Day or any day you simply want to celebrate a sing along worthy love or friend. Available for same day delivery in Raleigh and the Triangle by the EG Cupid Crew!
If you go home, go big. A fabulous large design for a private dinner at a client’s beautiful home. The designs for the tables Darcie & Kyle created were lush and beautiful but more intimate in scale inviting conversation and lingering at the table. Darcie created this showpiece to bring a “Wowza” moment to a focal point area in the home. When planning for a dinner party or special event at home consider adding one “knock your socks off” design to an entrance area or a gathering spot in your home like a bar or kitchen island. Special thanks to Olivia at KD Wholesale for the incredible contorted willow!
The Dream Team is teaching tonight and going all Viva Magenta with this year's Pantone color of the year! This playful, happy palette is one of our favorite Pantone choices colors to date. All shades of magenta with pinks and purples and a splash of white and green. Designed in a fun pink mercury glass container dressed with a sassy tie of magenta ribbon. It's going to be a great design class (we love it so much that we might do a repeat!) Check out our fun class offerings online at https://www.eventbrite.com/organizations/events. If you want to add flower design skills to your new year's resolutions, come join us one night soon for an EG design class in Suite C.
Heading to the mountains tomorrow to pick up a super special order of pottery from our friend Robbie at Speckled Dog Pottery. He is such an incredible artist and we enlisted his talents to create custom pieces for a weekend event at the NC Museum of Art (can't wait to share details as they come together). You can grab your own piece of his artistry on our website. We love his mugs and offer them both with our High Country Morning bouquet (pictured here) and our Best Part of Waking Up coffee & mug combo. Follow Robbie's journey as a potter in the Toe River Valley and all around cool person on IG. Stay tuned for more fun flower and pottery collaborations between Speckled Dog and EG!
Cooler temps have returned and I can’t say that I mind. I’ve got at least a couple of new sweaters to break in. Winter isn’t for everyone but I find it peaceful, zen like. It’s cozy and comfortable. We figured we needed a bouquet that captured that. Our Flower Zen got a winter makeover in our Winter Edition. Wintry foliage, pine cones, crisp green blooms in a vase with a forest design straight from a January postcard. A moment of flower zen as cozy, comfy and inviting as your favorite sweater.
You might have expected wintery whites and grays but get ready for Viva Magenta! Pantone inspired us with their 2023 pick for color of the year. It's called Viva Magenta and it's a vibrant, bold, exciting shock of deep pink. Our EG Team's interpretation incorporates magenta notes balanced with accents of white, green, gray, smoky lavender and dark wine. Featuring a range of interesting blooms in the palette including a groovy antique carnation, Pink Floyd rose and curly kale. Magenta symbolizes cheerfulness, happiness, contentment and appreciation. Sounds like a pretty solid list to kick off the new year! Our Bouquet of the Month arrives ready for placement in your vase. Dressed in a market wrap with a pretty sash of magenta ribbon. Available for same day delivery in Raleigh and the Triangle.
As a mom of a December baby I think there are few things that warm the ❤️ more than baby snuggles in winter. In celebration of the winter babies arriving in 2023, we are rolling out our You Gnome I’m Your Baby bouquet. We gnome you’re going to love it!!
Does the start of a new year mean closing the door on the year behind you or leaping across the threshold into the unknown with abandon? Maybe it's a little of both. You gather all the lessons learned from the previous January to December and catalogue them for easy reference as the new year progresses. However you feel about the turning of the calendar's page, our English Garden family is grateful to enter 2023 wiser, grayer, plumper and more in love with designing flowers for our friends, family and community than ever before. 2022 was a wonderful year. Sure, it posed its challenges but it was also overflowing with so many cherished flower filled memories. Thank you for letting us share those special moments with you and for giving us the honor to carry on our families' tradition of floristry for a 17th year.
Cheers to 2023! Beautiful image of those fabulous Merrimon Wynne doors courtesy of the incredibly talented Aimee Sue Photography. #2023
Who says winter is only shades of gray? Wadza captured a warm winter sunset in the palette she selected for our Golden Treasures bouquet. I can’t wait to design this for our 2023 design line-up.
Mapping out spring of 2023 with Wadza the Flower Goddess! It’s going to be fun, colorful, flower filled year! #2023
My family didn’t celebrate Christmas when I was growing up. Instead, we generally spent Christmas driving to Florida to take Granny B there for the winter. We'd often head out on Christmas Eve after dad closed the florist. We would pack up in whatever beast of a car we had at the time- a Lincoln Continental, a Cadillac, a Chevrolet diesel wagon Dad bought because it sounded like the Mercedes we couldn't afford. My parents would include some new toys for the journey to keep us occupied as we were packed in the back seat with Granny B. The focus was to make it to Brunswick to whatever roadside lodging might accommodate us. Dinner options were scarce. Waffle House and Cracker Barrel didn't dominate I-95 then. Denny's beckoned from the overpass. This 24-hour dining mecca offered day long breakfast and my once a year treat of Cornflakes with canned peaches and a scoop of vanilla ice cream (it's not on the menu now but trust me it's not a Christmas myth). My parents celebrated Christmas as kids before they converted to the faith that didn't allow it. I often thought the car full of toys and the sugar filled meal was their way of giving us connection to what other kids were experiencing. It wasn't a Christmas morning filled with presents but it became a tradition that helped fill the void.
Warren, Vivienne and I were out distributing gifts from EG to folks who were working on the holiday. We visited our local police substation, Healing Transitions, the Duke Raleigh ER, Hospice, a couple of gas stations along the way and then headed to surprise the Denny's crew. We didn't realize Denny's closes at 3 on Christmas. As we left the deserted parking lot, a dad and his daughter drove up to the restaurant for Christmas dinner. We circled back and passed along the flowers and goodies we'd intended for the staff. It wasn't cornflakes with ice cream, but it was a pretty special. Merry Christmas everyone. Cherish every moment big and small.

Holiday bouquets come in all shapes, sizes and palettes. Today's design mix broke out of the white and red mix with the introduction of warm golds, deep wine and plum and lots of interesting greens. Michel and Kyle designed coordinating custom pieces for a client today featuring pepper berry, parrot tulips, garden roses, bells of Ireland, safari sunset, peonies, Combo roses, dark red spray roses and antique green hydrangea. Designed in a fabulous chocolate glazed vase from our friends at Jamali Garden dressed with a jaunty bow of holiday plaid from Raz.
Like all of our fun designs, we can create a custom bouquet to bring all your favorite colors and flowers to your holiday too. Give us a call at 919-341-6650 or visit us online at www.englishgardenraleigh.com.
The holidays bring a whole range of emotions. Sometimes you’re feeling nice, like a sweet angel. Sometimes your naughty, devilish side comes out. (Especially after a few 🥃 balls and some eggnog.) Don’t fret! Our Naughty & Nice bouquet in this playful exclusive EG container is here to celebrate the angel & devil in you! Available for same day delivery in Raleigh & the Triangle from the EG Flower Elves.
Darcie did an off-site holiday tabletop design program for a local group yesterday. She made a beautiful centerpiece of winter greens, amaryllis, orchids and holiday trim. The best part was the text she sent me afterwards: “I nailed the English garden flair! Arlene said this looks like it should be in Southern living magazine!” Darcie joined us at EG during the holidays as a freelancer. We quickly decided she needed to move from PA and be a Carolina Girl. She’s taken to her new Southern home with grit and grace (pretty sure I heard her say “Y’all!” last week). Darcie, we are so grateful for your salsa dancing, joke cracking, flower slinging talents. Happy 2nd Christmas down South!
Scenes from a flower shop, Holiday Edition. Any day with fluffy ranunculus and cuddly teddy bears is bound to be great.
Need to stuff a stocking? We’ve got you covered at The EG with a little help from Santa’s Elves. Teddy bears, NC gift items, candles, gnomes and, of course, flowers.
Getting ready for a busy day of trimming trees and decking halls for lovely EG clients. Since I still have Thanksgiving flowers and some pumpkins on my kitchen table, it might be time to bring a little holiday cheer to my own house. Wonder where I could find a quick solution, like "Christmas in a Can"? Hmmm. Maybe at the English Garden!
A fun new item at englishgardenraleigh.com! A lemon cypress tree from NC's Triad Foliage, an adorable winter gnome from our friends at Sullivan's and because we still have all kinds of crazy supply chain issues, a playful paint can container (during the pandemic we have found all kinds of fun vase and container solutions).
Available for same day delivery in Raleigh and the Triangle by the EG Elves. Hopefully they can swing one by my house!

The cutest mini “mouse ear” poinsettias from our friend Luke at Triad Foliage. The perfect trimming for a Margaritas & Mistletoe party designed by Laura & the fabulous team at Southern Skies Events. Can’t wait to see all the details come together tomorrow.
In Denmark and Norway they call it hygge. At The EG, we call it pure coziness. That's what this lovely design by Michel inspires. Thoughts of cozy, comfy, candlelight nights at home. A modern twist on a classic centerpiece, our Starry, Starry Night bouquet is an elegant mix of subtle green, white and gray blue elements. After the flowers fade the lush base of foliage will offer continued holiday joy through the season. The keepsake deep indigo vase from our friends at Accent Decor will be one of your holiday favorites year after year. Bring a little hygge to your holidays!
Whatever tool or tactic it takes, we’ll get you decorated for the holidays! Gus caught in caveman action having a little Christmas fun!
The holidays aren’t all about red and white and glitter. Bright, vibrant colors are a perfect way to 🎉. Touches of wintry greens to lend a sense of time and place. This arrangement designed by Gene is all “party” in a mix of jewel tones. Kevin (our model & super awesome delivery guy) delivered this to a lovely lady celebrating her 92nd birthday. What better reason to paint the town pink & purple & yellow & blue!
Let the decking of the halls begin! Elizabeth (aka ) has trimmed the most adorable mini lemon cypress 🌲 from our friend Luke at Triad Foliage perfect for a splash of holiday cheer! Pop in and see us at the store to see what the EG Elves are designing to make this the merriest of holidays.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around The EG over the past few days. This lovely lady dropped by with the most incredible 🚚 of NC foliage. It was our last delivery from our friends at Stemz for the year until spring blooms begin in 2023. Having the Stemz crew deliver to us weekly with NC grown product has been such a gift. Along with deliveries from the equally amazing Piedmont Wholesale Flowers team we were able to double our purchases of NC grown product this year. We look forward to building on that in 2023. Thank you Amy & the Stemz team for helping us move our initiatives in sustainability forward this year. Until we see you next year, Happy Holidays!
