BRIDES: Advice from a wedding planner— after working over 200 weddings, I’ve seen it all.
Here are 10 things I would absolutely skip if I were planning a wedding:
1. Ceremony programs — most people don’t read them, and they blow away in the wind.
2. Too many DIY signs — they add clutter, not charm.
3. Chair covers — expensive, time-consuming, and almost always unnecessary.
4. A long photo shot list — trust your photographer to capture the magic naturally.
5. Skip the garter removal it usually makes people feel uncomfortable.
6. Personalized cocktail napkins — no one remembers them.
7. Unassigned seating — sounds easy, becomes chaos.
8. Too-tight timelines — no breathing room = stressed couple and rushed photos.
9. Table numbers with zero order — guests wandering confused? Not ideal.
10. That one extra decor rental you don’t actually need — save your money for what matters.
Wedding days feel so much better when you skip the fluff and focus on what you’ll actually remember.
One thing you should not skip is booking your wedding officiate in advance, don't wait till the last minute. Make sure you get a photo with your officiate it will be a great memory.
